We love this restaurant. Casual, comfortable, great people, good hot food. What more do you need?

The wife and I decided to try new places in Canyon and this was the second we tried. We didn 't like it and won 't go back, but it might be good for others. We don 't like food with a lot of zing and most of the menu items included things to zing up the flavor. I had the chicken fried steak, which was $4 more than at other places and so tough I spit out the pieces I tried to chew and got no supper at all. The wife had the pork chop (also overpriced compared to other places and it had so much pepper she could barely eat it (and it was so tough she gave up trying after three bites, no supper for her either . The waiter was less than helpful about my food allergies and could not comprehend that someone allergic to jalapeno peppers could not eat Mac and cheese included jack cheese. Not much choice of sides (mostly potatoes and the waiter (told I could only find mashed potatoes to order suggested that I also have French fries (with mashed potatoes? .

So I actually came here for two reasons: 1) looked like the only sports bar in canyon and (2) their website said chicken fried steak half price on tuesdays. I initially only came for a beer before going elsewhere for food, but decided I couldn 't beat inexpensive CFS. Then the waiter told me, I don 't think we do that we do tacos now. Searches FB instead of THEIR website to find a post beginning of February with a list of specials... so disappointed there. The CFS and mashed potatoes were good, I got the jalapeño gravy and it was overall solid. The Mac and cheese appeared and tasted to be from the great chef of Kraft foods. How do you have a restaurant and not make your own Mac?! I mean, I like a good reminiscent box of Mac but seriously? Also, they have the typical draught choices like bud, coors, shiner, so if you 're expecting any craft... don 't. I 'd recommend just going next door to Mickey 's, an actual restaurant.

Met friends from Amarillo on a Friday night. Both of our friends ordered the $23 steak special. We ordered hamburgers. After waiting 45 minutes for food, having to ask for refills twice, steaks were cold, hamburgers were raw and the fries were soggy. When we were given our check there was over $30 in variable charges. We were told it was due to the large table . There were 4 adults and 1 4 year old child. I get that prices are going up but this is ridiculous. We used to love coming here but needless to say we will not be back.
