What User doesn't like about The Wheatsheaf Hungry Horse:
The restaurant experience was unpleasant. First, there were ants crawling on the table. Secondly, when my son ordered fish and chips with beans, he received fish and chips with peas instead. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, she seemed indifferent. View all feedback.
Very clean friendly staff and great food. Much improved from hungry horse, good menu and great atmosphere well done. We eat out all the time myself abd my sister and had followed the refurbishment and went today 21st Jan and was impressed.
I enjoyed my meal here, the only things I would change are the vegan katsu curry could have had at least one or two more goujons. I had this meal in another Greene King and felt that I had less than last time and the menu said triple chocolate brownie and I only got a classic brownie. Other than that Greene King never disapoints, espically if you have Blue Light Card.
Very welcoming by all staff, food was very good and very family friendly. Love the new decor, great upgrade tried to book for sunday lunch 2 weeks in advance but already fully booked. That to me says it all. Will definitely return.
I was greeted by a warm friendly lady, the restaurant was clean, warm, bright, and cosy. There was 3 of us myself, my Husband, and my elderly Mum. The mixed grill was to my husband liking, my Beefburger was good, but even though Mum said her fish and chips and mushy peas, were ok, she had hardly any chips, (about a handful amount) mushy peas wern't that hot so she left them, the batter was a little too crispy on the fish, otherwise ok, Mum's mouth is a little tender. Service was very good . Would come back again.
Yes it has been decorated, and the menu has changed. We sat at a table expecting a server to come over instead they just kept looking at us. We then went to the bar to enquire as it was too much trouble for them to come to us! The place was fairly empty other than a few drinking at the bar and plenty of staff. I ordered the senior meal and my partner had gammon. The chicken was about the size of a large chicken nugget and was rock hard I could not even cut it in half. I showed the server, who agreed with me and took it away offering to re cook but by then my partner had nearly finished. My dessert was crumble lots of crumble not much fruit Overall the service was dreadful and so was the food we shall not be recommending or returning. This used to be a really good family pub with good value food. So we are very disappointed in the change
