The steaks were well cooked with sauce on the side and the deserts were delicious. The restaurant was not very busy as we went at 5.30 in the evening. We have been at 8 pm and had to book in advance in order to get s table. We had the house red which was very palatable. With the discount from the Gourmet society it was a reasonable price. The waitress was very attentive so we would definitely go there again. View all feedback.
What GeorgeC doesn't like about Cafe Rouge Canterbury:
The experience was fine but the bill just did not make sense to me. It did not add up, the cost was more than the total bill on the receipt. The waitress could not explain it and l did not fancy starting an argument so l paid. I probably won't come back because in the end a bill has to make sense. View all feedback.
It was just in order. the place is beautiful and the staff was helpful. eating was just not very good enough, I think. it was just good. the paella was dry and tasteless, the meatballs where good, the hummus as well, the falafel was a little dry overcooked. found it a bit too expensive for the size of the portions.
Great food. clean and tidy restaurant with good atmosphere..big staff. for money
My wife and I had a very nice lunch on Saturday, but I was not served what I ordered. The menu had changed recently and I was not advised of this when I ordered. I ordered a sharing platter which consisted of a selection of cold meats, rillettes, bread and a baked camembert with caramelised onions. This was still on the menu in the restaurant and also on the Cafe Rouge web site on the Internet. What I was served was six sausages, garlic bread, hummus and a baked camembert. It was nice but I do not think it was worth the same price as the selection of cold meats etc. I think the staff should have said the menu had changed when I ordered and I would have ordered something different. As usual the service was first class and all the staff very helpful and friendly.
