Feedback
Reviews praise Merchant Cannock’s warm atmosphere, attentive staff, generous portions and cocktails; few mentions of takeaway or outdoor seating.
Took a group of 10 there only to find that since may day bank holiday and white bank holiday they have taken all gluten free meals off their menu, big mistake and very short sighted, there are a lot of people with gluten intolerance, sadly won't be going back
Love this pub been coming here for years staff are brilliant defensively recommend
Very friendly staff! Atmosphere nice sports music nice to just enjoy have a few beers. However the pints of coors we had was flat I couldn’t drink it, Food prices are good however food the chips are over cooked left for a while then just reheated and served was like bullets really. Decent portion though of food served. Pizzas decent size, however rock hard struggled to cut it. Very disappointing really as service is good from staff just pints of Coors was flat however cider fine and food was a massive let down I don’t think I’ll be ordering food again from here.
Used to love coming here for meals as have done for years especially the katsu chicken which has deteriorated over last few months, once was a dish of 2 large breaded chicken breasts, fluffy rice , garden peas, plenty of sauce , topped with spring onions has become a small piece of dried up breaded chicken, small amount of clogged rice with just a smother of sauce , the onion rings were soggy and half cold, fish in batter was soggy in places ,, chip portions are like kids portions ... desserts are a slice of cake which are stuck on the bar what you see on the day is what you get only, some look like they've been there days , cutlery is of real poor quality, knives cut absolutely nothing, I would've complained as it was a family meal but the staff seemed over busy as was ... I've ate here for years and always recommended it ...but now sadly feel unable to
We did go regularly but no more the staff are good the place is clean but with in one week the price of a small breakfast went up £2 and the quality of the food and drink came down drastically. The sausage on the breakfast is chipolata size and inedible the first one I took back it was like rubber the second was that over cooked it would break your teeth. The bread for toast is from the cheapest budget loaf you could buy and the butter has been replaced by the worst tasting margarine you could ever taste. Then if all that wasn't bad enough the refillable coffee is that weak now it's just like hot milky water. I do appreciate price's have to go up now and then but they should not go up this much especially when the quality drops to a really low standard. That would be over £30 for 3 breakfast's with coffee for really poor quality
