Description

A comfort-food neighborhood spot known for inventive mac-and-cheese (notably a lobster mac with generous mix-ins) and fresh salads, but with uneven execution. Portions are large, yet cheese sauces can taste bland and mac toppings can’t always be customized. Sandwiches show promise but suffer from inconsistent availability and an inauthentic take on Chicago beef; prices feel high for half-sandwiches. Dine-in is casual and a bit cramped; service and ordering can be hit-or-miss. Great for mac lovers willing to forgive some inconsistencies.

My mac and cheese had hardly any cheese in it. The soup portion was only about 2 ounces, and the sandwich I received was not edible.

The Italian beef was a disappointment—perhaps it's time to perfect the recipe before adding it to the menu. Also, why did you delete my review on Facebook? Just curious!

Family is sick I called at 645p on 10/29/2023 to ask if they are open and to order Chicago beef sandwiches they told me they’re quick to make and I could order it when I get there. I shower and drive to the location at 7:25. They tell me they’re out of all of their beef sandwiches.

If you like a real Chicago style beef sandwich, don't go there. I do not think the cook ever tasted a real Chicago sandwich. I don't know why they put hot peppers on the sandwich and call it giardenira. It is supposed to be pickled vegetables. If you want to sit there and eat, be prepared to be a little cramped.

I got the Rock Lobster and Plain Jane macs.Pros:unique noodle usedPlenty of cheese on topThere was enough lobster in the lobster mac it was easy to find.Large portionsCons:The (cheddar) cheese sauce is only a small step above the nacho cheese you get from a school cafeteria. It has a flavor, but it’s not particularly substantialThe texture of the sauce isn’t bad, but it’s…if a texture can be bland, that’s what this is. It’s*I hate the cracker crumbs on top and didn’t see any option to remove them.*Note: I hate all forms of crumbs on mac n cheese, so this has nothing to do with the restaurant or the food quality. It’s a general dislike.Overall I’d rather have a homemade mac n cheese, but I will admit that I’d like to try their other flavors and see if the sauces are better. This is also the right kind of food if you’re feeling a little elevated or tipsy
