We are a family of 4 from England (Kids 2 and 5). I love this place. Unruly and really great seafood. My fish was amazing (is something). Crab was really nice. Children loved the shrimps and fish and chips. It was probably the most beautiful food... while we went to our camper around France. And we love good food. The staff was nice. One of the children broke a glass and they smiled simply and were very nice about it. Desserts good to (choc caramel mousse mmmm). And right in front of the beach, so after the children had a game on the beach (and many rock pools to the side). Very recommended.
My wife has already reviewed this restaurant and I must now do a review as the manager has denied that his restaurant was the subject of the review and stated that we have been mistaken.Luckily we have kept the card from the restaurant and it...clearly states.... Cap Chausey, Bar De La Plage, Port Mer, Cancale, Tel 02 99 56 77 31. In addition he has said that all staff that work there were women which leaves me to believe it was the actual manager himself that served us. I was with my wife and family last year and our experience was extremely terrible. . He ignored us most of the evening and was extremely rude to us when serving. Friends and staff at the adjoining table (where the waiter spent a lot of time during the night) were openly describing English People in the most disparaging terms. We knew they must have been staff as they were freely walking in and out of the restaurant kitchen helping themselves to whatever they needed. We are Irish and found it extremely offensive. We asked for a cheese board and we said we didn 't like goats cheese and in an extemely sarcastic manner he said that doesn 't leave much then . When I asked which cheese were on the menu he wouldn 't answer and told me It 's inside the menu . There was not even goats cheese on the menu. It continued in this vain all night. We tried to get his attention to ask for water, more bread, more wine etc and we were totally ignored. My niece (aged 8)had been practicing how to ask for a glass of water in French. She went up to ask him, as we couldn 't get his attention and he angrily told her to shoo and sit down. It was then we definitely knew ... do not go to this restaurant as they obviously have a problem with English speaking people. Avoid at all costs unless you are French of course.
