Mr Zee 's is a new eatery at Civic (near Monkeybar) that is all about kebabs. It 's basically a more chic version of a Lebanese takeout. It 's sells the usual types (ie classic chicken/lamb/koftas/falafel), wrap or kebab with immaculate presentation on quality ingredients. They also put their own spin on some dishes like 'Lebanese Nachos ' (which used fried flatbread instead of corn chips). For first timers I would recommend the classic lamb wrap, the lamb chunks contained within were thick and juicy unlike your typical kebab takeout. Alcohol is also on the menu and they usually have daily meal deals so worth checking out for a quick lunch!
To break it down: the chicken shish was fantastic, especially since I hadn't had it in such a long time—I truly loved it. However, the lamb was disappointing, as the meat wasn’t cooked evenly. The sides of bread and hummus were standard, nothing particularly memorable. Overall, it’s a decent spot if you're in the mood for kebabs.
I ordered takeout last night and it was definitely worth the money! I used a 2 for 1 deal from LivingSocial. I really enjoyed the fried Lebanese bread salad (Fattoush?). The shish kebabs were succulent and freshly cooked, which was fantastic. As for the baklava, I can't say I know what bad baklava tastes like, but this one was just as delicious as I've had elsewhere. I've heard they are planning to offer home delivery soon, once they get their marketing sorted out. I think the takeaway flyers are still being printed due to a revamped menu.
We came here for a quick and affordable lunch. My rating of 3.5 is on my characterisation of this place as more of a kebab shop than a restaurant. On this level I was pleased overall with the food and service I received. We ordered the mixed kebab platter. The meats were cooked very well, tender chicken and juicy lamb and the hummus was tasty. The pide, fries and salad were adequate, while there was nothing to write home about with the rice.Better than your average kebab shop with good quality meat.
Without a doubt, this is the best shish place in Canberra! It’s great to find a restaurant that serves high-quality charred lamb shoulder and chicken thigh on skewers. The feta and za'atar hot chips are absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My friends really enjoy the whole charcoal chickens here as well! The staff is incredibly friendly, too. I appreciate that you can choose to sit indoors in a stylish setting or enjoy the outdoor seating when the weather is nice.
