We enjoyed the portion sizes and were craving a meal with Asian flavors. If you're looking for a hibachi experience when you're in Canandaigua, I'd stop here. It's not the best food that I've ever had but it does the job. My favorites were the vegetables and the fried rice. I wish they used less teriyaki sauce though.

We stopped here for a late dinner last night and we were very impressed! We started out with a sashimi appetizer to split and then I got the clear soup and my fiancée got the miso soup. The clear soup was great because the fried and green onions in it were packed with flavor, but the broth itself was okay. The miso, on the other hand, was delightfully packed with soft, earthy miso flavor. The sashimi appetizer reminded me why I love sashimi so much. It's an 8 piece app with two of each fish, great for sharing. The quality of the fish was perfect, you could tell it was fresh and we could really taste and feel the textural differences between each fish without it being impeded by any rice or sauces (other than soy sauce and wasabi). For our mains, I ordered the Dancing Dragon roll, the spicy scallop roll, and two Saba sushi (cured or pickled mackerel) and my fiancée ordered the Dragon roll and the Pink Panther roll. I always start with the Saba because it's my favorite. The fish size to rice bed ratio was excellent and the mackerel was expertly cured with strong flavor. This was my first time having a spicy scallop roll so I wasn't sure what to expect. The scallop is ground up into a soft but flavorful mush and I enjoyed it enough that I think I will be trying this again at other sushi spots as well. The Dancing Dragon was one of my favorite rolls. The roll is heavy on shrimp, with a little tempura crunch, some softness from the tuna and crab, and a little vegetal creaminess from the avocado. This roll hits a bunch of different tastes and textures and that complexity makes it exceptionally delicious. I will note though, the Dancing Dragon and scallop rolls were not spicy at all like they were supposed to be, unfortunately, but they still tasted amazing. The Pink Panther roll wasn't my personal favorite, but I'm not a fan of cream cheese in my rolls because I can't taste anything else when it's present. However, it was my fiancée's favorite roll here. She loved the flavor of the eel in it, along with the texture of the salmon and the creamy cream cheese. The Dragon roll was about as good as the Dancing Dragon roll and taste-wise, there wasn't that significant of a difference, but in the future when we return, I'll probably still pay the extra $1 to get the Dancing Dragon, only because it has more fish and eel sauce. We definitely will be returning though and I'm excited to try their hibachi too!

I usually go for a sit down spot, versus the hibachi, however both are great. It can be quiet inside sometimes, but that's not a bad thing if you like some peace. However the atmosphere is great in larger groups as well. The service is always decent, never anything overwhelmingly good but I've never had a bad experience. Overall I would highly recommend. (They do have a few menu items for people that are picky eaters as well)

We made our reservations a week in advance. The chef was exceptional and entertaining. I ordered the scallops hibachi, while my husband had the shrimp and chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious!

However, the only problem was that just before serving, the chef poured a generous amount of teriyaki sauce over it, which overshadowed all the other flavors. On the plus side, the veggies and soup that came with the meal were quite good! Sakura does have a diverse menu with plenty of appealing options, but overall, I wasn't impressed with my meal. If you prefer to avoid having your dish smothered in teriyaki sauce, make sure to mention it at Sakura.
