Cliffview Resort - Campton
Cliffview Resort
Description
Set on a quiet lakeside, this rustic lodge charms with log-cabin styling, wraparound porches, balcony swings, communal kitchens and reliable Wi‑Fi—ideal for cozy group retreats and scenic weekends. Staff are often friendly and service can feel personalized, and shared amenities like washers and ample cookware add convenience.
Expect uneven maintenance: tepid or nonfunctional hot tubs, occasional cleanliness lapses, slow ovens, uncomfortable futons and limited water access. Wise guests bring extra drinking water, bedding or plastic tableware and temper expectations for event coordination.

First, the hot tubs were disappointingly lukewarm—more accurately described as tepid at best. The futons in the rooms were small and quite uncomfortable. Additionally, we noticed some cleanliness issues; for instance, we found dozens of flies in the window by the back deck, suggesting that cleaning might have been overlooked. We were surprised to discover that there was no outdoor water source beyond the sinks, and while there were large, attractive refrigerators, they also lacked a water supply. I recommend that guests bring their own drinking water jugs for their stay. On the plus side, having a washer and dryer available downstairs was convenient. The staff was friendly, but there were areas where better preparation could enhance the guest experience. For example, one of the printed direction sheets included an incorrect phone number, and the key code provided to us didn’t work. All the rooms lock when closed, meaning a key code is required even to access your individual room. We also found that the oven took quite a while to heat up, so allowing extra prep time for cooking is essential. There was quite a bit of emphasis on maintaining quiet, with warnings that noise could lead to the police being involved, and we quickly understood why. In the evening, when gathered around the hot tubs or fire pit, voices traveled easily across the water, which was more of a puddle than a lake, making even quiet conversations seem amplified. This is something that future guests should be informed about before their arrival. Overall, we would consider returning but will be mindful of the hot tub temperatures and the comfort of the futons, possibly opting to bring inflatable beds for those who find the futons inadequate. The internet connection was reliable, and we had plenty of glasses, coffee cups, plates, and silverware—though there was nothing plastic, so families traveling with children should bring their own. The pots and pans provided were satisfactory, but I was grateful to have brought my own cast iron skillet and metal spatula.
I recently visited this restaurant for the first time, and I absolutely adored it! We stayed in the lodge, though they also offer cabins. The cozy decor of both the lobby and guestroom gave a true mountain cabin feel. The place is relatively small, which allows for personalized service. The staff were incredibly friendly; when we checked in, Terri gave us a tour and introduced us to the communal kitchen available for all guests to use—perfect for cooking, storing your food in the fridge, ice, etc. The lodge features a lovely wraparound porch with swings, enhancing the relaxing atmosphere. Since the location is somewhat off the beaten path, it provides plenty of peace and quiet. I highly recommend Cliffview!
We thought about having our wedding weekend at Cliffview Lodge. Although we ultimately chose a venue in our home state, it was a tough decision. The location, accommodations, and stunning views make it an excellent option for a wedding any time of year. The cost is quite reasonable, especially considering everything that is included! Additionally, Meredith, the site manager, was quick to respond to our emails and incredibly helpful.
This was our 8th day at Cliffview Resorts. Our reservation was for The Lakeside. After all of our guests arrived, unpacked and had dinner going on the stove, we were informed that we needed to move to the Retreat due to issues from the water. Very unhappy, but we were reimbursed for one of our 3 nights. After moving to The Retreat we found it to be in just fair condition. Several TVs not working, both hot tubs not working properly and pretty dirty in many places. There were several other minor things that we just overlooked. We had several people in our group with medical conditions that made it difficult to make the trek to the fire pit. (main reason we choose The Lakeside every year). Everyone in group-20 of us agreed things were not as nice as in years past. This all being said, we love the area and spending time with friends each year. They seriously need to do a deep clean several times a year to these cabins (and move furniture to vacuum).
The room was very nice. We had access to the balcony and it had several swings and chairs to enjoy the view. Our room was on the second floor and the kitchen downstairs had soda and waters. There were a few pastries and coffee for breakfast. Very pleasant, helpful people running the inn. It is way off the beaten path but well worth the drive to have something so cozy and quiet.
