A beautiful little city, on my way from Sevilla to Porto, a small beautifully decorated restaurant, excellent service, real good local cuisine, very well presented, excellent service and very good house wine. If you go through Campo Maior, i strongly advise you to stop for a nice experience. April 2013. View all feedback.
What Gil M doesn't like about Restaurante Cervejaria O Faisão Lda:
Being the only costumer at a winter Sunday night, I asked first for a recommendation. Anything on the card I was told. Let´s have it then: entrecosto frito (crusty fried pork ribs), and migas de batata (potato puré Alentejo stile, garlic, and a slight fry in a pan). The migas were sort of ok, the pork ribs and sausages, not ok at all, not freshly made. Bad day?! I 've eaten here better food, but all in all, average. View all feedback.
Dinner while driving past the village Faisao was an excellent choice. The place is (the village itself!! out of nowhere, but the restaurant is well known among the locals. Location 6/10 Friendliness of staff 8/10 Ambiance 7/10 Food quality 9/10 Return YES well worth it.

Had a dinner here in mid july, two persons- business trip. The restaurant is right in front the town's main church and is composed by two levels and two entrances, upper where we dined and the lower one. The staff (owner and waiter) were very friendly and suggested us what to have. Food was delicious and portions are quite big. We had an entrance dish: mellon and ham, really good. We had a codfish mixed with smashed potatoes that I really recommend if you get the chance to eat in this restaurant (golden codfish as they call). Then we had rice with seadfood and coriander who was very good, if you like that spice of course. We wanted to taste the octopus but we really did not have any more room for it! We had a local red wine, a not expensive rather good choice, water and coffee. Cost 65€ , really reasonable. Nice people, good location, very good food.
We were driving from Seville to Porto and needed to take a lunch break. We missed a turning to Badajov and ended up in a small town Campo Major. Had some difficulty finding a place to eat and locals point to this. The grilled prawns were very good! A bit expensive at 30 euros per portion. We had two portions for four persons. But the portions are huge. We also had a very large and delicious fish stew and a so so calamari. Overall quite agreeable.
Portuguese typical food. We came here twice, the food was good and we had a lot in the plates! Nice staff.
