The bar staff also serve other areas and you may need to wait a little, sometimes even though they are very pleasant and helpful. Happy hour is always a bonus if necessary... to take the edge after a long day.

Although the Rydges hotel itself may not meet expectations (especially based on our room experience and failed upgrade attempts), the restaurant within it offer... read more Although the Rydges hotel itself may not meet expectations (especially based on our room experience and failed upgrade attempts), the restaurant within it offers surprisingly delicious food. It was a pleasant surprise for dinner on a cold, rainy night when we didn't feel like going out. We were pleasantly surprised by the superbly cooked pork and chicken breast, a decent Marlborough sauvignon blanc, excellent service, and delicious coffee. We highly recommend trying it out, even if you're not a guest at the hotel.
