Best place for a local food experience!! Great concept! you get your preferred meat directly from the butcher, order some supplements and drinks from the bar and you get to enjoy a great view while they prepare your food. When someone noticed we were tourists they immediately came to help us in an easy going way, not pushy in any way. He explained the concept, gave some tips and helped us in a great way! The food was great, even the salad was very nice and a very generous amount. The staff was friendly and easy going. Best place for a local food experience!
Espedata is one of my favorite foods, and I ate it almost every day during my holiday in Madeira, trying it at six different restaurants. I have been here twice, and my experiences varied in terms of taste. The first time, the espedata lacked garlic sauce or had very little, so it felt like just meat. However, the meat quality was good. Our second skewer was almost raw, and I had to ask them to cook it more, which they did. What I didn’t like was being asked to rate the restaurant with the staff waiting next to us, which felt manipulative. Because of this, I gave only two stars. Additionally, they don't speak English. On my second visit with Spanish-speaking friends, I asked them to tell the chef to use more garlic sauce, and it was much better than the first time. The price is also very cheap, only 4.5 euros for one beef skewer. They have also enough free parking places. If I would rate my second expensive only I would probably give 4.5 stars when I compare price, parking place and taste
We had a lovely time. First you have to go to the butcher, then to the bar, to order and pay everything up front. Afterwards you can just sit at the table and enjoy your meal. Everything is grown locally on their farm which makes it even better. Everything is made in front of your eyes on the grill. We had traditional beef skewers, sausages, cheese, meatballs and pineapple each were made perfectly. We even bought some avocado and fruit to take home with us. The restaurant is mostly filled with locals (which is a good sign , but the waiters are helpful and at least one of them speaks English nicely. This restaurant is the best place to eat in the area. People working here are really kind so everyone feels welcomed. You can eat here traditional food which is delicious. If I ever have a chance to come to Madeira one more time, for sure I will choose this restaurant
Really good concept: you order the food at the butcher on the other side of the road, and then they bring it to grill it at the restaurant. The meat is of great quality and the staff is super nice. Also a great place that they offer private parking for clients. Lovely place to visit!
