What a surprise. We arrived in the area to take in the British Museum on a Saturday afternoon. Queue was about 1km long. So we decided to grab a bite and wait for the line to go down. Popped into this cafe for a bite. Pleasantly surprised we were. The pastries appear to be made in house. A custard tart that I sampled was absolutely heavenly. Had to purchase a second one. Toasties were excellent too. Had the Aubergine... View all feedback.
Can’t believe I paid £19 for 2 baguettes. I asked for a baguette with just sausage as I disliked the options and as they are made fresh, didn’t think this would be a problem. Obviously turned up with everything I didn’t want in there and one sausage for a whole baguette. Could see from where I was sat someone washing up, just a quick rinse under the tap. Should have walked away when they didn’t accept card.
Good breakfast smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Husband said prawn and avocado baguette was very good. Lovely fresh orange juice with lime. Busy and friendly cakes looked very good. Not over priced for central London. Handy for British Museum.
Average food, slow and inattentive staff and expensive. Our food (two breakfast baguettes) took 40 minutes to arrive and the American couple next to us had to wait even longer her breakfast turned up first and she'd nearly finished before his arrived. Staff seemed more interested in talking among themselves than actually taking care of their customers.
Cafe was good but serving a bit chaotic. Good location pretty close to British Museum. Nothing to complain about, but nothing special either.
We stopped here for coffee and pastries, just passing by, and it looked good. We went inside but took our order outside to sit at a table and enjoy the weather. We got two fabulous pastries and coffee for about $12. We then went back in when we were ready to leave and got a few more of our favorites for breakfast then next day. It is quite small inside and feels a bit rushed but I’m sure they are used to people who have been there before and not strangers from the US like us . Don’t hesitate….stop here and get pastries, scones, full breakfasts, coffee, tea, etc….
