Patrons have reported limited menu options and long waits for food, contributing to an overall feeling of disappointment. While the ambiance features pleasant air conditioning and music, a lack of customers makes it feel devoid of energy. Some offerings, like sandwiches and scones, have been praised for their quality, yet fundamental issues such as absent staples and inconsistent service overshadow the positives. Despite its potential charm, many diners suggest looking elsewhere for a satisfying meal or a lively atmosphere.
I visited this restaurant as part of a day out in London, after attending a matinee show in the area. I had a Groupon voucher for a set meal costing £35, but unfortunately several of the dishes were not available from the already limited menu. The ongoing issue of not having chips available was disappointing. After adding on a £30 bottle of house wine, a supplement for the steak, and the service charge, I ended up spending close to £100. I would only rate this restaurant as average and it is not somewhere I would choose to return to. The restaurant had nice air conditioning and music, which we enjoyed, but it was fairly empty and lacked atmosphere.
I had a voucher for this restaurant. Unfortunately, my first reservation was canceled the day before due to kitchen renovations. On my second visit, I was disappointed to learn that there was no fish and chips option as the restaurant had run out of chips. This was the main reason we had chosen to dine there. Despite our initial disappointment, we decided to try items from the regular menu. The starter was a dry salad with no dressing, the main course was salmon with clumpy rice, and the dessert was an unsweetened cheesecake with a strange sauce on top. Both my friend and I had to visit the restroom before leaving, and I had to make an additional trip once I got home. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.
I went to this restaurant for a special event and was extremely disappointed with both the food and service. I ordered the Gammon egg and chips, but the Gammon was dry and overly salty, the chips were soggy, and the fried egg was not freshly cooked - it was rubbery and slimy. To top it off, they poured a terrible cheese sauce on top, which made everything even worse. It was not worth the price and the restaurant should have put more effort into improving the dish.
Tasty sandwiches, small fresh scones and small decorative pastries. Plenty of food served on lovely china, served in the bar as the restaurant had a private function on the day we went. Comfortable, quiet setting. Lovely hotel, short walk from Holborn station and all the hustle and bustle nearby. Would recommend. Also in the bar meals are served so it would be a quiet place to grab a bite to eat generally.
The first night I our room was not the best the toilet stoped working and the ac started making weird noises so we could not sleep so we told the people that worked there they gave us a new bigger room. The staff are really nice and always want to help.
