Contribute FeedbackOverall, the reviews for Cafe 13 Main Street in downtown Cambridge are a mix of positive and negative experiences. While some customers found the food to be delicious and the staff friendly and knowledgeable, others were disappointed by small portion sizes, lukewarm fries, and underwhelming dishes. In terms of service, some patrons praised the enthusiasm of the servers, while others felt dismissed and uncomfortable during their visit. The restaurant's ambiance and unique touches in an older building received positive feedback, with some diners looking forward to returning for another meal. Despite mixed reviews, Cafe 13 Main Street offers a reasonably priced dining option with potential for improvement in certain areas.
They preserved the old time lamps, desks, doors and many more from the time they originally opened 1893. It is gorgeous inside. My friend and I both ordered fish and chips, and the fish fillet was pretty big!! It was coated w crashed potato chips, crunchy outside and moist inside. They also have some craft beers that I need to try next time I am not driving..Server was very friendly, all other customer looked happy there too.
Friend said it was great....see the photos!!!! ... service was great and there was a good atmosphere after 5.00pm
Cafe 13 Main Street is in an old building in downtown Cambridge, Ontario, where many aspects of the building have been lovingly preserved, such as lintels and window frames, and beautiful modern touches, such as art work, have been added. The food is not especially inventive but it's nicely-prepared and tasty, and at a reasonable price. When we were there last week the most negative thing about our experience was the way the noise level kept increasing, and this was no fault of the restaurant! Why do people think they have to talk loudly? If everyone spoke softly we could still all hear the people near us, the ones we want to hear, and our hearing would emerge undamaged. Our waitress was enthusiastic and cheerful and just the right amount of attentive, except for a couple of little miscalculations (such as taking too long with the desserts, which apparently were ready and waiting) which made my husband say, "I think she's new." But they were little things, and her overall caring and good humour were wonderful. She thanked us for being such a good table to have for her first night on the job! We would go back, especially if we could have Annette for our server.
We visited the restaurant this past week after hearing it has new owners and a new chef. Food was excellent and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The place has a fresh new look. Staff were saying the second floor will be a pizza and pub feel when finished. Can't wait to try.
Great food and atmosphere. Friendly service and fantastic views. Located in the heart of beautiful, historic Downtown Galt. Steps away from local shops and the Grand River. Sunny, warm patio!
