Benet's Cafe - Cambridge
Benet's Cafe
Description
St Bene’t’s welcomes you to a warm and inclusive Christian community in the heart of Cambridge. For over a thousand years, since 1020, this historic church has been a sanctuary of prayer and peace, inviting people from all walks of life to come together and celebrate the diversity of gifts and experiences that God calls us to share. Following the teaching of St Benedict, St Bene’t’s embraces all who come through its doors as if they were Christ himself. Prayer lies at the very centre of our life, as we respond to the love of God who reaches out to each of us through Christ. The church is open every day, offering daily services of Holy Communion and Evening Prayer, providing moments of stillness and reflection in the bustling heart of Cambridge. Visitors are warmly invited to explore the church’s rich history and discover a place of calm and spiritual renewal. On Sundays, we gather for our Eucharist services beginning at 8am with a traditional spoken service, followed by our main 10am sung Eucharist featuring hymns, a sermon, prayers led by members of the congregation, as well as dedicated groups for children and youth. This lively, 70-minute gathering is often accompanied by incense and always followed by coffee, fostering a strong sense of community. Throughout the week, a simple half-hour Daily Eucharist takes place at varied times, ensuring there is ample opportunity to pause, pray, and receive Holy Communion. Evening Prayer is said every day at 6pm both in church and online via Zoom, allowing participation both in person and from home. On First Sundays from September to May, join us at 7.30pm for Taizé, a beautiful service filled with contemplative song and silence. St Bene’t’s is more than just a building—it's a welcoming community where faith, worship, and fellowship come together. Everyone is warmly invited to join us, to find peace, and be part of this vibrant Christian family in Cambridge.

Benets Café is a truly extraordinary find! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by its cozy ambiance and the friendly, inviting atmosphere. The café has a charm that makes you want to settle in and stay for hours, enjoying not only the delicious treats but also the warmth of the space. The staff are wonderful – so friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home with genuine smiles and service that goes above and beyond. Charged more than advertised on the board (paid the price for a large when we had a “regular” which was more “small” . Wasn’t great coffee either. Nice location though, so a shame.
Bought a 'lemonade ' and settled to do some work, lemonade was just rather strong lemon squash. After little less than half an hour my partner (who didn 't like anything there and was accompanying me) was rudely asked by the owner to 'buy something as this is a cafe '. (The servers were lovely) Extremely rude, overpriced and inhospitable to residents and students. Music was very loud and hard to talk over! I wouldn 't recommend this as a place to relax, work a little or drink.
