Having walked from Funchal to Camara de Lobos we avoided the harbour-side eateries and continued our walk only to get caught out by unexpected rain. What User doesn't like about Restaurante Praia do Vigario e Snack Bar:
We went for lunch looking for a nice place and we had to wait more than 45 minutes with just a bottle of wine in the table. This is not aceptable in my opinión, even when we ordered a salad as a starter that could be done in 5 minutes. Even the bread came late and it was not too good as in other places, missing onion and like just out of the fridge. The seconds came on time but we left the restaurant without desserts... Very good food and beautiful location. my man had the cavala ao molho de vilhao. he said it was the best court he had on madeira. vegetarian and vegan dishes are also available.
On the first day after the arrival to madeira to eat traditional Portuguese food and was surprised to positiw! the great selection of traditional seafood in combination with the view of the sea and the mountains made for a great lunch experience. the personal is. friendly and everything goes smoothly. we returned back here to try other dishes and got the same great experience! would definitely recommend!
We popped into Camara De Lobos to see if we could find this restaurant as we 'd eaten there 7-8 years before. The staff are very welcoming and the restaurant offers a fine view of the sea and Cabo Girao above. We had time for a...quick snack and ordered some squid Salteados and peixe mixte. Both were very good, with the main course came some steamed veg and fried maize. Overall it was good value for money and we 'd love to return next time in Madeira.

Lots of local families use this restaurant , so don't be put off by other reviewers and judge for yourself.
We had our worst meal in years here, how can they expect to stay open serving dried-out over-cooked meat to Trip Advisers?
