I eat a lot of Mexican food. I love it, and this place made me love it even more. The Tortilla Soup is a masterpiece. This bowl of soup was bountiful, not only in size, but also in girth. Evey si gle bite had chicken and tortilla strips and cheese. The soup felt like something you'd throw together in your kitchen (homestyle) but was also deeply complex and well balanced. What Bill D doesn't like about Sol Azteca Mexican Grill:
Service was extremely slow, resturant wasn't crowded, wait staff busy doing other things like sweeping floors and disappearing into the kitchen. Food was just okay, nothing spectacular. Plates were extremely hot like they sat under a heat lamp for more than a couple minutes. We'll find some place else to eat next time we get a craving for Mexican food. View all feedback.

Great service, great seasoning. On par with our grandmother's in the mountain back in the day. Personal recommendations include the cold and sour micheladas, warm tortilla soup, and sizzling chicken fajitas. Delicioso ????????

Having lived in San Diego for 15 years I am very particular about my Mexican food. Sol Azteca is one of the few places I have found in the area that feels like I'm back 10 miles from Mexico. Creative decor, authentic music, and n the Sunday afternoon most of the patrons were Hispanic families. That's about all you need to say.
