Finally managed to trek up to the OG location! Their current (May 25, 2024) seasonal offerings include a matcha lavender mochi roll and guava rose cruffin. Both were impeccable: the matcha roll was topped with a slightly tart matcha frosting and filled with lavender-infused mochi swirls. I liked that the rolls had a crisp edge, which made for a gorgeous textural contrast which the chewy mochi and soft bun. The guava... View all feedback.
What Jane doesn't like about Sakusaku Flakerie Tenleytown In Wash:
I came for the “fluffy” and “jiggly” Japanese soufflé cheesecake. The cheesecake was anything but that. It looks NOTHING like the picture on the website.(see picture attached) It’s kind of dense and flavorless. The milk bread was also tough. They said they make their items fresh daily but that can’t be the case. I gave 2 stars because I had a cookie from here before which was really good. Customer service is good but... I'm Japanese and I love this place! Reminds me of high end cafes back home!
If you are a matcha lover this is your PLACE. Yuri the owner is wonderful and she brings her Japanese roots into every piece of the shop. When we walked in she was making fresh croissants
Everything here is absolutely fantastic! The pastries are delightfully flaky with divine flavor options. I especially enjoyed the lychee raspberry hibiscus cruffin and the sun gold tomato ricotta quiche. There is a great selection of coffees and teas as well as seasonal specialities. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is friendly and helpful. Saku Saku is definitely one of the best bakeries in DC!
This has become my favorite bakery/tea spot in DC! The staff is so friendly and attentive, the pastries and drinks are next level good and the ambiance feels just ideal for a date, friends catching up or even sitting outside on their tables and working for a bit with your pup. Completely recommend it to everyone that I know!
