What Uyen Nguyen doesn't like about Mélange:
The burgers are okay, not bad but also not amazing. The national burger has an interesting taste, but not my favorite. It has spicy doro wat style fried chicken, kobe aioli, turmeric slaw, and fried egg. The mushroom one is average. The milkshake has a very strong condensed milk flavor. View all feedback.

I've only had one sandwich on the menu because it's so good that I can't stray away from it. I've had the Melange Hot Hot Chicken Sandwich three times now and it is amazing, one of my favorite chicken sandwiches ever. The seasoning and flavor profile is so unique, and it's large and crispy and the sauce pairs well with it.The berbere fries are also excellent, unique, and flavorful. Cannot recommend this place enough. One day I'll try the burgers too...
I finally made it here to try out a burger after hearing a lot of good reviews. It's a nice spot very casual and conveniently located near Mt Vernon. We ordered at the counter and got a table in the dining area. It wasn't very crowded, just 1 2 other tables occupied, which was great. Our food came out after a short wait, and looked and smelled incredible. The berbere fries were pretty good. They had a nice crisp and the seasoning was great. I actually would've preferred even more of the berbere spice and will ask if they can add more next time. The double burger was really delicious. All the ingredients just worked fresh pickle, shredded lettuce, yummy sauce, soft bun, well cooked patties. It was the best burger I've had in awhile and it was perfectly messy lol. The only thing that I would've liked to try was the same burger with more of the Ethiopian spices. I think it would be really interesting and yummy. But overall, no complaints and we really enjoyed the meal.
Easily the worst burgers and overall unpleasant dine in experience. Not worth the money and definitely would not recommend nor return.Food: We ordered the Classic and the National burgers french fries. Burgers were cold, had no flavor (the Classic), and excessively and unevenly seasoned (the National). The fries were cold and just too soggy as though they were soaked in low temperature frying oil as opposed to actually fried. Presentation was a bit off putting as well. Customer service and dine in experience: Maybe they were having a short staffed day it took about 40 mins to get our food and the front was consistently left unattended, where some folks were waiting to order for 10 mins only to leave the restaurant afterward. The only guy working the front and the hall was not welcoming, and weirdly push towards a cash tip up front (though the POS machine later showed an option to include a tip to my bill). That said, the decor and atmosphere were definitely unique and fun. A very disappointing experience overall.
