Was Hels72bels at Maryvilla a mag?
The fish dishes are really good here, my favourite was the monkfish and prawns both really meaty fish. The lamb chops went down well too. Pizzas are a bit soggy so not in a rush to retry them but the fish is a must. Would recommend and would return View all feedback.
What Ian CBEDFORD dislikes about Maryvilla:
Food is fairly good but not value-for-money. A lovely setting but spoiled by (a) the smell of cigarette smoke which permeates the whole restaurant and (b) the poor hospitality skills of the principal female host . She sits in the restaurant chain smoking. Spain is reputed to have some of the strictest bans on smoking in bars and restaurants in Europe but she clearly believes she is above the law. She sits in the restaurant chain smoking. Spain is reputed to have some of the strictest bans on smoking in bars and restaurants in Europe but she clearly believes she is above the law. The waiters were excellent but the host is surly, and off-hand -unless you happen to be German.

I love the desserts !!! They are gorgious and the service is excellent. I highly recommended it for families and couples .My dog had a bowl with water there as well. It has a view from the terrace to the sea and bar area with tables made from palm trunks;
After 4 years we were back in Calpe and again stayed close to the Maryvilla restaurant. We had again a great dinner, quality still very good, menu still for 95% the same as 4 years ago, which is actually a good thing as it was very good then already. The owners (a German couple) are great people, and yes, they are German and that could be perceived as maybe a little distant but actually they are not, and other languages than German are spoken here (menu is available in English if you wish, so what some people write that you are only welcome as a German is absolutely not true). The tomato soup with gin is still amazing, it has a very good afterbite. Our son took his favorite dish the carpaccio, where still great meat quality is used which makes it such a great dish at Maryvilla. The Chateaubriand is still amazing, as it was 4 years ago. The warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream is also great. Waiters were also very attentive, and service was quick and efficient. C19 measures are being applied correctly also here. All in all, great place still, and highly recommended.
