Local soda in Curubande. If you stay in the area or on the way to or from the national park, Rincon de la Vieja, this is a great place for a meal. Food is freshly prepared, flavors are great. The people who own and run the restaurant are very warm and welcoming. They also care to make their business environmentally friendly. Try the traditional cansado or delicious pasta. What User doesn't like about Camino Al Cerro Catering Pícnic Service:
I find that it is very overpriced. The service was barely acceptable, not friendly at all and the food was average at most. I found that the quality of the food was basic and you can find better meals at smaller simpler sodas (small restaurants) for half the price. Also found it weird that the vegetarian and vegan options are more expensive than the other options with some kind of meat. A day after eating there all o... View all feedback.
I don't know what this previous poster was talking about, but this restaurent is excellent when you visit the Rincon de la Vieja Park or stay in Hacienda Guachipelin, but don't want to eat in the restaurant anymore, as there is nothing for almost 20 km. Came around 1800, since we stopped before and they said they closed around 1900 on Sunday. Service was friendly, the waitress was a bit shy! We ordered the beef casado (4800 colonies/$8, the same price as that on the street, cheaper than the hotel, but more expensive than in the city... if you want to drive another 20 minutes to save 2000 colonies and the Gallo con pollo. They came very quickly after a free bowl of carrot soup (excellent!! They were more refined than your normal soda and tastes great. good portions. Excellent curtains!! We were offered free cakes at the end. Should have eaten here for lunch and other dinner instead of the hotel (every steak is very good at hacienda! #costarica #puravida #rincondelavieja
My wife and I came here for dinner after a trip. So friendly and welcoming, had a great soup and an amazing lunch. Very authentic, simple and generous. I'll never forget the food.
I'm so glad we found this place. We decided to take a night after dinner at the overpriced dinner of Hacienda Guachipelin. We had a car, so we drove out of 10 minutes and found this place. It's such an authentic restaurant with great food. The owner was very friendly and he explained the menu very well. The best part when the neighborhood. Although only a few miles from the tourist site, there is a very small city feeling. Try it!
Looking for authentic local cuisine? This is the place to go. After a full morning of hiking near Rincon de la Vieja volcano this stop for a lunch was an excellent choice. The food was outstanding and the service was great. Eric is a gracious and personable host. My wife and I are here for two months escaping the harsh Chicago winter and rest assured we will be frequenting this great establishment several times in the weeks to come. Well done, Eric!
We loved this place all 11 of us, ages 73 to 3. Food was delicious and the staff was very accommodating. They were serving for a wedding (Dec. 2018) and yet still were willing to have us. We even danced with the owner on the way out. Wonderful home cooked food.
