Contribute FeedbackAfter a disappointing experience with high prices and lackluster service, one diner expressed their frustration with the offerings at this particular restaurant. Another customer was let down by the changes made to the happy hour menu, which lacked variety and choice. On the other hand, a brunch buffet impressed a guest with its wide selection of food options, despite some issues with the server's attentiveness. A positive experience included delicious food, friendly service, and great value for money. A Christmas dinner buffet left guests satisfied, especially with the friendly and cheerful staff. Lastly, despite a rocky start, one couple enjoyed their experience, with good food and a nice outdoor seating area. The overall consensus seems to vary, leaving some customers satisfied while others disappointed.
The breakfast buffet was pretty good and had a variety of choices from pancakes and waffles to cereal and toast. The service a bit slower but no matter because you are there to eat. The price is a bit hefty and I don't know if I would go there again but I'm glad I tried it!
Great location and decor, pretty good service, lacklustre food. My extended family booked a large reservation to celebrate a 60th wedding anniversary. While the location theme was awesome and the staff fairly accommodating, we were ultimately disappointed. The food was pricey and barely average. The steak salad resembled a bag of spinach on a plate with half a can of corn and spoonful of black beans. The dressing was good and the steak was cooked correctly, but I felt that easily I could have made a much better, more flavourful salad. The other dish I tried was the brie and fig grilled cheese. I can appreciate that they were attempting a new spin on an already old trick, but they missed the bus. The naan, the fig, apple, Brie, the greens were okay, but the tomato fondue did nothing for the dish and tasted like a can of Campbell's cream of tomato soup. It is something I would expect to eat from a food truck not a restaurant. I am passionate about good, local food that supports small scale producers and Thomson's really has so much potential, but disappoints in flavour and price. I wouldn't go back.
We were looking for a place to have lunch after the Stampede Parade 2017 and this was the only place kind of empty. Guess why...salty prices. We wanted someplace to sit outside and enjoy the nice whether the server put us in a table very under the burning sun, even the chairs were hot and impossible to seat. When vacated a near by table we moved and let the server know, but she never came back. The new guy was not pleasant either. When I asked for the menu he said "I am finishing to arrange your table, don't you see? I will came back to you when I can: I felt it was really rude. He could have said the same thing in a different way. He came and we ordered, when the food came it was scarce not abundant at all. Final bill for 2 people $85! 2 dishes, 2 not alcohol drinks and the most cheapest appetizer. So, I guess I am not coming back any time soon, if ever.
Breakfast is available 7 days a week, The buffet is the best deal, the staff will custom make omelets, eggs etc. There is a good choice of fresh fruit and other wonderful yummy items. Coffee and orange juice and refilled automatically.
The Sunday buffet brunch at Thomson's has always been a family favorite of ours for special occasions but under the tutelage of Chef Hideyuki Hirooka, a solid Sunday brunch has turned exceptional. Everyone from servers, to managers, to kitchen staff exhibit a strong service mentality. No request is too imposing. The quality of food is consistently high and the assortment ever changing. Arrive after noon, grab a table on the outdoor patio and watch the world go by while sipping mimosas and noticing passersby oogle your brunch selections. Food is always fresh no matter what time you arrive. Free indoor parking is included (make sure you have your ticket validated before you leave.) At $36 per person including non alcoholic drinks, coffee, and an assortment of high quality desserts the value is exceptional for what I believe to now be the best Sunday buffet brunch in the Calgary Banff corridor.
