The Derrick Gin Mill & Kitchen

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile, as I had heard good things from a friend. It was pretty dead when we arrived. Maybe 5 people in the whole restaurant. For it to be so not busy everything took too long. 15 mins for drinks. 30 mins for one appetizer and over 45 mins for two entrees. The food was good, the wait was the problem.

Lunch was great, service great, nice chill location that’s not a franchise.

3 of 4 meals were good. The tomahawk steak a disappointment. No flavour, tough, grizzle

Very friendly staff but service was very slow…wait between drinks way too long considering the restaurant was not busy. Feature gin cocktails were ok but gin was not prevalent. Again staff were really outgoing but didn’t seem to have much knowledge of the gin and alcohol they were serving. Food (salmon) was well prepared and veggies and potatoes were good. However, I wouldn’t be in a rush to go again, experience was just ok.

Service was slow and restaurant was very noisy. Montreal smoke meat sandwich was tough and didn’t taste like Montreal smoke meat.
