What Laurie W doesn't like about The Black Swan Ale House:
Went for a drink and some snacks midafternoon with my sons and a friend of theirs. Prices were good, food was good, our server was good BUT I could not get over the language being used by the ladies serving (not the woman who was serving us) and the way they were yelling at each other from one side of the room to the other. I was there with 3 people with special needs, and each time one of them yelled it was almost t... View all feedback.
I will make this review short and sweet...<br/ <br/ Black Swan in my opinion has the absolute best wings in Calgary! Not messy, full of flavour, full of awesomeness!! <br/ <br/ Try it out for yourself!
Eight times out of ten, the wings are the best in the city on wing night . The soya seasame are wonderful if you like a tad of salt with your beer. They are a must for me. I try to go often, as the wife will allow.
Okay servive, music is too loud, generic overpriced food, HOWEVER I was once there and saw a woman I know, making out with another woman. I cannot promise this will happen if you go there, but worth checking out, just in case.
I came here with my dad on a weekday afternoon. The server was friendly and came over to our table, he was also bartending. I asked "What's on special?" He said "It's happy hour, everything is on special." I ordered a Coors Banquet and he said they were out of that. So I ordered a Mill St. Organic Lager. My dad decided to have the same. We had two each. Our bill was over 30 dollars for four beers. The price was $7.95 per pint. We asked if he had forgotten to put the happy hour price for us. He said no, that was the price. We asked what the regular price was if the happy hour price was $7.95 and he said it is always $7.95 it just doesn't go up at 7pm. Other drinks go up at 7pm from their happy hour price. How on earth is this a happy hour price then?!!! I wouldn't be so mad if I hadn't specifically asked what is on special. I don't want to have to ask the specific price of all beers and I don't think it makes sense to tell people everything is on special if some things do not have a different price for happy hour. Very poor!
Pleasantly surprised with this pub, it's been here forever. The breakfast was great and inexpensive, great service. We will be back!
