Taurus Vietnamese Restaurant - Calgary

The atmosphere is more like old diner than fancy restaurant. But the service and food is good. Great prices!

We have been coming to Pho Taurus since we moved into the area in 2003. At the time it was the only Vietnamese restaurant in the area and the only sit down restaurant where $20 would feed both of us. We feel a great deal of loyalty to Pho Taurus for a night out while underemployed and unemployed!My favourite is still the vegetarian vermicelli bowl with vegetarian spring rolls. I don't know what's in the spring rolls, but they are not greasy and just so tasty. Likewise, no one charbroils dark meat chicken like they do either.It's true that Pho Taurus hasn't updated their menu in years and that the decor is very simple. There are few restaurants we know of that haven't raised their prices, so as long as the service is friendly and the food delicious, we'll keep coming back.

Don't waste your time or money. Bland, boring and flavorless would be my top descriptors for the Pho my husband just brought home. If they make their own broth it was seriously underdeveloped, I've seen consume with more color, if they don't then they water the broth they buy down far too much. Cheap, tough beef is not what I expect from a raw beef Pho either. We won't be going back.

This restaurant has really friendly staff and is in a convenient location however that's about where the good list ends. I've ordered several different items off the menu and just didn't find any of it overly flavourful. There are other viet restaurants somewhat close by and I would suggest going elsewhere

Ordered the salad and pork rolls and a chicken with spring roll vermicelli last night for two people. Had loads of food. I could have sworn that the salad rolls had shrimp and pork in them last time.Again this is highly recommended for large tasty portions.We did take out and it was took less than 15 mins. I ordered and it was ready when I arrived.
