This is a small, personal café, with carefully chosen foods, coffee and other beverages and ingredients for the health-conscious. It is within the historic Alton Mill, which is an art gallery, and arts community, with many artists and artisans working in their studios. Well worth a visit - good for the soul! View all feedback.
What Antwan Grady doesn't like about Shaw's Creek Cafe:
Nice sandwich and salad. Salad on the expensive side for what it was. So was the veggies and hummus - over priced. We enjoyed and would return. Great trails for walking and art gallery and artisans. View all feedback.
Beautiful setting in historic Alton Mill. Very quaint and relaxing being that it's inside an art gallery. Super friendly service. Awesome fast wifi. Fantastic place to get work done and occasionally look out the window at the beautiful forest. The Americano's are excellent and less than half of Starbucks' prices. We just moved to the area and this is the coolest hole in the wall my wife and I have found thus far.

I was expecting a standalone cafe, but instead found a small, open space of just a few square feet in the foyer of the Mill. The ambiance of the cafe is decent, but not very welcoming.
Had a sandwich with my husband after visiting the Alton Mill. It was quite good and service was quick, but it was a bit expensive, especially considering the tables are not very private, so it's not like we had a romantic lunch.
They serve sandwiches, quiche, various baked goods, coffee, and probably other things as well. I had the chicken salad sandwich on fresh baked whole wheat bread. Not being a real foodie, I can't properly describe it. But it was good! The coffee was also excellent. They serve all the modern fancy kinds of whipped-up coffee-and-milk concoctions, but I'm a drinker of plain black coffee. It's amazing how many places can't do that right, but at Shaw's Creek Cafe it is excellent. I also had a "butter tart". Never had one before -- I think it may be a Canadian specialty -- I recommend it! I believe they get the butter tarts and some of the other pastries from outside suppliers. Prices for everything are very reasonable. You can feed the family without breaking the bank. The cafe is near the main entrance of the Alton Mill, a rambling old-and-much-restored-and-extended industrial building. In the Mill building you can visit various art galleries (displays and sales) and studios (displays, sales, and artists working). You can also see some of the impressive old machinery from the building's industrial days. Some of that machinery is still in its original location. The mill pond other surroundings are beautiful. The cafe provides a meeting, resting, and refueling station as you explore the mill, hiking trail, etc.
