The food was delightful—I had the lasagna along with a carrot ginger soup—but the service was quite slow. It took 85 minutes for my meal to arrive (not including the complimentary bread, which was also very tasty).

Absolutely the best! The food is outstanding, and the staff are very professional. The atmosphere is wonderful, and they often have live music. It's our favorite restaurant, and we keep returning time and time again!
Excellent food live music for dinner and lunch. Rotating menu, had the calamari, caprese salad french onion soup. Came with complimentary bread and olive tapenade- yum! Tried the ceasar salad-fresh, crispy and real bacon bits. Everything prepared to perfection. Good selection of local bevvies, good tea selection. Reservations highly recommended. A true bistro, the baked goods are delicious, had cookies for takeaway-excellent packaging and presentation. Staff is diverse, some have been working for 12+ years. Very accommodating. Highly recommend.
This was the first time visiting Ray's and it was an enjoyable experience. We chose to be seated on the patio which was nice and quiet. The menu offered a nice selection of appetizers and entrees. I wasn't sure what I wanted and settled on an organic burger and my wife had a lamb burger. I asked if it came with fries on the side and it didn't but I could choose a side salad. Good lord no wonder they don't offer fries. They don't have to. That Caesar salad was a meal in itself and the burger was huge and mouth watering. Best salad I have had in a long time. Great experience.Dan and Nancy
Nestled in a cozy corner, Ray's offers a delightful culinary experience that captivates from the moment you arrive. Known for its exceptional food, the restaurant boasts standout dishes like their mouthwatering Caesar salad and organic burgers. Patrons appreciate the attentive service, though be prepared for potentially slow wait times during busy hours. Live music and a warm atmosphere further enhance the dining experience, making it suitable for gatherings or a casual meal. With a rotating menu and delectable baked goods available for takeaway, Ray's is a must-visit for food lovers seeking a memorable outing. Reservations are highly recommended.

I visited this restaurant for the first time this weekend and had a wonderful experience overall. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was excellent. The food was amazing, although I found the crab cakes to be a bit underwhelming, which left me feeling disappointed. However, everything else was perfect! I will definitely be returning. We have visited Ray’s 3rd Generation countless times, and I can honestly say that I've never had a meal that I didn't enjoy. The combination of flavors, presentation, and creativity is fantastic. The portion sizes are just right—not too small, and you always leave feeling satisfied. What I love most about this restaurant is that you can enjoy a gourmet dinner in a relaxed, friendly, and romantic atmosphere, complemented by an amazing staff. Over the years, I've recommended Ray’s to many people, and the feedback is always the same: “What a great place!”
A group of us dined there last night, and we had a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic, and the patio was incredible. We all enjoyed a delightful meal outside and received the best service I've encountered at any restaurant. It's clear why this establishment has thrived for three generations. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. A big thank you to our waitress—your service made our evening special!
I had a fantastic lunch on Wednesday, so I decided to go back for dinner on Thursday, and I wasn't disappointed! Not only were we seated before dinner service officially started, but we also had a delightful server who had just come back from vacation in Cuba and brought a cheerful vibe with her! Our dishes—arctic char and wild boar—were simply exquisite! Overall, it was an exceptional evening. I highly recommend Ray's for both lunch and dinner!
Everything about this place is amazing. It's definitely worth the drive to Alton!
As soon as you walk in the smell of the bakery was amazing it was so quaint. The food was great and the service was the best. We would highly recommend it. We were here visiting from Texas and had a wonderful lunch with special friends
