Hubby, teen daughter and I holidayed here over a weekend. The hot pools were amazing, the sauna, steam room and cold pool was also thoroughly enjoyed. It's a beautifully scenic destination with great views. We also raved and thoroughly enjoyed the African Rain experience at the spa. It was simply amazing. Beds were a good size and comfortable. Bathroom needs a bit of updating. But overall we will definitely be back.... View all feedback.
What Stephen Gillane doesn't like about The Caledon And:
Unfortunately my partner and I were very dissapointed with this hotel. It was rated 4 star. However, on arrival we were told only then that the Spa pools were not working due to power/water issues. The room itself was fairly basic and the bathroom sink had a crack in it. The atmosphere was non existent and only the adjoining Casino had eateries open. The staff were not very helpful and not very accommodating when we... View all feedback.
It is season the the place is in disrepair and unkempt. The so-called spa was not functioning and no reception. There is a beautiful pool with a pool bar which is not open, rusting and not in use, which was very disappointing. The lackadaisical attitude of the staff is jeopardizing this establishment. This is not at all a 4-star hotel!! (More like 3 star) Their are big advertising banners and posters everywhere, advertising the rooms and facilities which is such false advertising, as the rooms, facilities and reception areas look nothing at all like the advertisements!! The meals we had at the black sheep restaurant by the casino was very pleasant which was a positive at least.
We stayed there for two nights in April and we were dissapointed for what you get for the extravagant amount per night that the hotel chargers. The rooms are outdated and definitely need an upgrade. The hotel has amazing potential and has so much history attached to it. It just needs a bit of a revamp. Great location, great concept but you can see and feel that the place is not properly maintained. Especially knowing that it’s part of the TsagoSun hotels and it’s a 4 star hotel. Things in urgent need to revamp: 1. The television needs and upgrade to Smart TV so one can actually use it. 2. The bathroom needs to be revamp to the bath and shower being separate. 3. Steam room and Sauna at Spa. It looks very old and dirty. 4. Carpets in room
My husband and I spent our anniversary at the hotel spa. Our overall experience of the service was disappointing. We arrived promptly at 2pm for check in after a very long trip and was informed by reception that our room is still being cleaned and not ready. We waited in the foyer with our luggage for 45 minutes and no one had the courtesy to give us an update whilst we waited. Once the room was finally ready no apology was given for the delay. There is no basic introduction to the facility by reception and no porter assistance offered for your luggage to your room. You are given your room number and the rest you need to figure out for yourself. We were also informed that the hotel no longer issues gowns to guests since the Covid pandemic and instead you are given two small towels. The value for money and service was not what we we expected from a 4-star hotel.
It would have been a 5 but the amenities in the rooms were a little lacking. No 2 pin adapter or point for cell phone charger in the room and the bar fridge and kettle were not working. Other than that, excellent service and great value and ideal get away for R&R Service: 5
My holiday there has been absolutely amazing! I cannot compliment the service of the staff enough. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, always with smiles on their faces. The waters and pools are so lovely, my favourite part of the stay. The grounds are beautiful and with so much to do especially for the children. And breakfast is fantastic! We will surely be back! Service: 5
