When we arrived, we were not offered a table and decided to sit in the conservatory... read more My partner and I visited Castle Express last night to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived, we were not offered a table and decided to sit in the conservatory at the back. Shortly after, the hostess came over and chastised us for our choice, saying the table might be reserved, even though there was no reserved sign and the restaurant was nearly empty. We also had to ask for the wine menu since it was not provided. When we inquired about a four cheese pizza, we learned it was available but ended up being served a four seasons pizza instead. Although the waitress was very apologetic, we decided not to have it changed. As the evening wore on and it grew darker, we found ourselves in the dim conservatory with no one checking on us or offering more drinks. I had to use the light from my phone to see. Eventually, the same lady who had reprimanded us turned on the lights but left without asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. Overall, we felt quite overlooked during our visit. The interior is c... read more I’ve passed by Castle Express several times on my way home from Corby to Nottingham and finally decided to stop in. What a wonderful surprise! The interior is charming, and the outdoor seating area is very inviting. The food was outstanding, and the service was flawless. The staff were friendly, and the woman who served us was exceptional—I just wish I could remember her name to give her recognition. We ordered the lamb steak with chips and the seafood risotto, both of which were cooked to perfection. We concluded our meal with a slice of lemon tart, which was a delightful finale.
