On check-in, the receptionist told us the restaurant would be serving roast kid, which is typical at Easter time, so we booked a table. There wasn't much meat on the bones to justify paying €25 each for what would have been less than half the price in any local restaurant. (Nice variety of desserts and fruits . The bread that was served at first could have been better they should offer the Broa that is locally handmade. (There actually is a woman making her own Broa for sale in a small house just down the road.
We stayed four days at the Pousada Caniçada Geres's and ate twice at their restaurant. the restaurant is fantastic. It has a wonderful view and serves a wide selection of fine Portuguese cuisine. There is a good selection of wines, and the service is top notch.
Hotel is top, maar keuken is matig. Best interessante kaart, maar producten zijn niet erg smaakvol. Veel dezelfde ingrediënten in verschillende producten. Ook doorgekookt. Jammer, is gezien publiek veel uit te halen en in omgeving zit weinig alternatiefs.
Lovely spot, lovely staff, food was tasty but cold. Even after being sent back it reappeared warmer but still with frozen parts. What a shame.
