Maratona - Caldas da Rainha

Stopped in for lunch and had called ahead to inquire about vegan options. When we arrived the waitress was very rude and informed that the only option for vegans was a salad, mind you they have multiple signs around the restaurant describing a “vegan menu” but it doesn’t seem they’re vitally aware of what vegan is. The waitress argued with us over their options and finally gave us an unimpressive vegan wrap. Would not recommend to vegans.

There 's a restaurant and a café. We stayed in the café 's esplanada (terrace) with our dog which was welcomed and even offered a bowl of water for her. The menu is simpler at the café, I had a vegan salad with lettuce, quinoa, chickpeas, mushrooms and seeds. There 's a vegetarian burger, vegetables toast and sandwiches and a few more vegetarian and veganisable options. Fresh fruit and vegetables juices made to order. Unexpressive menu, we payed 15€ for 2 courses and 2 juices. Very friendly staff!

Nice food and drinks, the chevre burguer and the soups were amazing. Affordable price and nice atmosphere.

This used to be our favorite restaurant in Caldas and we were super disappointed this time. The quality of the food and service have dropped a lot! What a shame.
