Best place to eat in Calca, and worth a stop if you're traveling between Cusco and Urabamba. Food is typical and local ingredients. Appetizers, entrees and desserts are tasty. My large family ordered different items, and shared. So good! Staff is nice. When we went...back the next day for dinner on Saturday, we were told it's only open for lunch. We had a hard time finding another good restaurant in Calca....settling on a little pizza place that was clean and friendly.
We stopped by rather coincidentally and were very positively surprised. The menu features many typical Peruvian dishes, starters (which are huge are soles, mains soles. Expect to pay for people including great homemade lemonade. We came twice because the quality was...so good and the service as well. We can highly recommend the stuffed avocado (palta a la reina) and the causa as starters and then the trout. Would always come back, highly recommended if you want not the soles tourist menu but authentic, high quality food for a fair price!
We are a family of travelers with a year old boy. Calca, was our home for months and we've been to all restaurants in this town. Carmen del Valle is certainly the best. The kitchen is very sterile. The management takes very good...care of hygiene. This is a very important aspect in Peru as it is quite easy to get salmonella or shigella if no one takes care of hygienic standards. They mostly serve Peruvian food and it is a lot better than in many other palces. Everything we tried, we loved. And never had any stomach problems. The garden is lovely and walls are decorated with beautiful art. They also have cute parrots jumping around! If you want to experience good Peruvian food, then i highly recommend this venue.
