We are locals , and therefore have had the opportunity to eat at most of the seafood eateries from Southport to Surfside Beach. This is our new favorite place to eat. We had the Capt. John 's platter, and as is typical of Calabash style cooking... there was enough for two more people! The flounder was light, flaky and delicious. The oysters, clam strips and shrimp were tender and lightly breaded. We will be coming ba... View all feedback.
What Eric Cardone doesn't like about Captain John's Seafood House:
The service was wonderful but the meal was a disappointment. Nothing was fresh at all. Calamari was soggy and like rubber, same with the shrimp and fish. Would not recommend eating here. View all feedback.
Soft shell crab and crabcakes were delicious. Service was excellent. Key lime pie was really good
We were looking for seafood..Oyster Rock was an 1 1/2 hour wait. We walked to Captain John's and we were very pleased.I had sauted scallops and usually you get 4-5..I had 21, and they were excellent. My wife had the chicken. Our waiter couldn't have been nicer..very helfull and accommodating. My wife loves Hush puppies and said they were excellent..and said the Cosmo was almost as good as the ones at Tropics in Honolulu. We will be back
Service was amazing!! Wish I could remember his name but he worked his tail off.... food was literally the best
We loved the atmosphere and most of all the food. Delicious flounder and shrimp. The breading is light and delicious. Baked potato perfect! Really enjoyed our meal!
Hands down we were not expecting much due to a parking lot not half full when the others around were full. This is a treasured secret!!!! Laura behind the bar was the bomb! The food was excellent and the prices were completely comparable to the area. Check them out!
