What an amazing restaurant! We dined in for both dinner then breakfast the next day. The staff are warm, welcoming and genuinely happy to serve you and have a joke, chat or just entertain your kids. The food was sensational- probably the best Italian we’ve had in Australia ! 100% recommend popping in here for a filling meal after a day out on the reef or exploring Cairns !! What Eva Barrows doesn't like about Villa Romana Cairns:
We had lunch here today, NEVER AGAIN. Only go here if you don't mind waiting forever, watching other people come after you, receive their meal and leave and you still haven't got your meal. No apologies, just passing the buck. WE WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. The food is overpriced and standard fare. There are better places to eat, avoid Villa Romano. View all feedback.
Nothing to dislike. Had a breakfast, well presented and well cooked. Then again cost over 50 dollars with coffee so not cheap!
First time dining here and maybe a bad night. There is an early bird special if orders in before 6.30 pm ... shame our waitress didn't know the details. A shame she did t know what a Capricosa pizza was , a pity she didn't realise the three of us sharing the pizza may all need plates too. However she did ask us how the meal was ... pity this was before we had even eaten any of it. Caesar salad, looked good however only has one anchovie , not bad if you don't like anchovies and forgot to tell the chef to exclude them. All up pizza was good ! Staff well, there was what looked to be a over supply of international waiters that had low skills. Will come back for a take away pizza, $12ish.
Saturday night, very busy but food and service was excellent. The seafood risotto was to die for!! My wife had a pasta dish - also al dente. Desserts also very good. Good value for money also.
We strolled up and down the Esplanade looking for somewhere special to eat and decided on Italian. So glad we did.We shared a delicious antipasto platter as an entree. If we had been looking for a light lunch, it would have been more than adequate. Being Saturday night, we expected it to be busy. It was, extremely. Given that, the service was quite acceptable. My wife chose the Camembert and spinach stuffed chicken which she said was beautifully cooked.I chose the seafood spaghetti dish which I struggled to finish. The spaghetti was cooked to perfection and the flavour of the prawns, calamari, octopus, scampi, mussels, vongale , crab and Moreton bay bug permeated through it. Surprised to read less than glowing reports of this place.
