What N4616RSjoanneb doesn't like about The Church Inn:
I had pre-booked Sunday lunch at this restaurant. It took a long time to get a drink because people picking up takeaways seemed to be prioritized over other customers. The prawn cocktail was very basic, with just one small lettuce leaf, prawns, and watery marie rose sauce - it was bland. The main course was nice, but the vegetables were a bit on the tepid side. Desserts were overpriced. The staff were pleasant, but o... View all feedback.
First time here and when the five of us arrived we were the only ones there which surprised us as it was early afternoon. When we were given the menu we were surprised at the variation and by the end of the meal we were totally hooked. The staff were brilliant and the food was amazing. As we live quite locally we will be back as often as we can. Thank you all for a brilliant afternoon
This is the perfect traditional Sunday Lunch pub venue but I was particularly impressed with the vegetarian option which was the best veggie Sunday lunch I've had in 40 years! Home made chestnut Wellington, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, roast carrots and parsnips, peas, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pud, stuffing, and rich vegetarian gravy. All served in a friendly, relaxed family atmosphere by a hard working waiting staff. My only niggle was the coffee machine wasn't working but honestly, the food was so good I really didn't mind! Definitely recommend this lovely old pub but you will need to book because it's understandably popular.
I would 100% recommend the food here! There was a party of 15 people and every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed every meal! Highly recommend the ribeye Steak it was delicious and cooked to perfection! The burgers (chicken and beef) were so juicy and melted in your mouth. All meals were cooked perfectly and can’t wait to come and visit again! The chef did an outstanding job and the desserts and a must!
Have eaten here several times as its walking distance from our house. and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal, quite the opposite in fact every one has been delicious. From Sunday lynch to the £8 lunch menu and always served with a smile. They also have a steak night. Don't know if it's still on? But one night I ordered the tomahawk steak. Be warned! Its huge! And was cooked to perfection. Its not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but its certainly the best by a country mile. Keep up the great work guys! 5*
It was a pleasant surprise to see more staff serving during our recent visit, which greatly improved the speed and ease of ordering. The staff were efficient in taking our food and drink orders promptly. However, the food did not meet our expectations based on previous experiences. The steak meal was quite basic and did not justify the premium price. We were disappointed to find that there was no children's menu, and the option to supplement a child's meal with a smaller main dish was overpriced at £12.00 for fish and chips. Additionally, the temperature in the restaurant was uncomfortably cold, as the massive open fire was not lit. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this pub. It is disappointing as we have been loyal customers for many years and previously found it to be good value for money.
