What User doesn't like about El Aujero:
promising entry - large open barbecue and bubbling pots - just aim and pay for whatever you want (after an approximate translation). But the food was not good, sous and hard to finish. We went hungry... View all feedback.
This restaurant is located at the entrance of Cachi and most of the tourist companies take travelers here; the owner is most concerned about filling all the seats than making sure the current customers are being treated well. We waited about 20 minutes to get a drink and our dessert never came. However, the worst part was that they promoted cabrito (baby goat) when in reality they served us an old goat. When we asked for our bill, we had it in less than a minute. There are other restaurants near the plaza that can make your trip a pleasant one.
El Aujero is a spacious restaurant in the centre of Cachi. The city is very quiet. El Aujero offers cheap Argentine cuisine. You can dine inside or on the terrace. We came a weekday. Since in the afternoon the restaurant was busy for lunches, we chose El Aujero for dinner. We went for Pimento Rellenos with a large mixed salad and fries accompanied with a small bottle of house wine and mineral water. What a mistake! The food was not tasty to eat, and the wine was terrible. We have sunk in with over a dozen annoying flies. The water was good. If you want to eat in a restaurant with no more than just food, El Aujero is the place for you, otherwise elsewhere.
This is a good opportunity for a cheap and good food at the end of the world, with a beautiful seat outside, not disturbed by traffic in the street. Nice staff and good beer. It is recommended to use the toilet at home.
Like most people we came there as part of our tour; I was comprehensible. But when I approached the open kitchen kiosk in front of the main building and saw the various stews and dishes that were part of the menu options this day, I was thrilled. The daily specialties are a fixed price and you choose one of the most important stews. I asked for half the serving of two different dishes so I could try again. The flavors were wonderful and I knew it would be difficult to find these dishes, cooked on a rustic BBQ, elsewhere. Once in a lifetime opportunity for those of us who are not from the region. Foodie friends: Here you have lunch in Cachi! If you want to taste regional dishes from the Calchaquí Valley, try El Aujero. The service was friendly; the environment is rustic; and the food is a tasty memory that Argentine cuisine drastically changes from region to region. The menu is basic, but there is a treasure trove in the specials (the eyes open for ilma and goat stuffing and the Charquicillo, which is part of the menu).
Rustic, simple, tasty food unlike the European food we are used to. It was a delightful meal served in friendly surroundings. A memorable experience we would love to repeat. Lo siento, no puedo explicar en espanol. Quizás, esta bastante que decir muy agradable .
