Desert Hills is located based in Ashcroft and is a very popular place to purchase your fruit and veggies, it has, just this summer, leased out the old Bonaparte Bend Winery property and should do a thriving business, convenient to travellers on Highway 97 North, very beautiful location which will gain popularity. Last night, we enjoyed a fantastic meal at this restaurant. The cuisine was typical brasserie fare, but the service from the staff was very friendly.
We unexpectedly came across this bistro and were pleasantly surprised by the outstanding dishes, including the dessert, as well as the attentive and polite service.
Lunch was for 10 and for the first time that I can remember, everyone was pleased with their meal. The menu is not extensive, however the food was well prepared and very tasty. The service was attentive without being over bearing. As this is a winery, (they specialize in fruit wines) some of the couples decided to try their wine flights to sample the wares. We tried Gooseberry, which was tart and dry, Saskatoon, which was very surprising in nose and on the palate, delightful to be sure and Blueberry/Black Currant which was fruit forward yet pleasingly dry.The freshness of the ingredient for the meals was a welcome change from many bistros that tend to use rather tired veggies and here the bread is fresh baked every morning!Open from May to the end of September, I would not hesitate to return.
It is now a sales outlet for Desert Hills Ranch and Market Garden. I let you know this about 2 months ago and it is still listed.
