Cables Restaurant & Bar - CABLE BEACH

Whilst I understand this is probably more a restaurant of convenience for hotel guests - I was very disappointed with the food. There is an abundance of fabulous places to eat in Broome - and we suggest if you are treating yourself to a meal don't waste your money here.We ordered a haloumi pizza which tasted flavourless & nachos which was covered in what tasted like pizza base sauce (certainly didn't taste like nachos!) and was inedible with a ridiculous amount of sour cream soaking it. Certainly not restaurant quality food.

Poor attitude of chef. He turned up late which was stressing out the waitresses. We were the first to sit down and place our order. 20 mins later we were told one of the meals was not available so we ordered something else. Half the order arrived 15 mins late which was the replacement order. We then waited a further 40 mins before the original order arrived and it was not what was ordered. At this stage I walked out hungry.

My family visited this restaurant as we were staying at the resort, it was my wife's 50th birthday, I ordered the vegetarian gnocchi but added chicken, however the amount of chicken was so small and hard to find, my son ordered the chicken Rio, the potato rosties were cold and uncooked in the middle, we complained about this and they apologised and bought out more potato rosties which looked extra cooked to be sure, in the meantime my wife's fish and chips which we asked to be grilled was not hot, she turned the fish over only to find what looked to be a metal hairpin or similar, we complained about that, the restaurant apologised and refunded the total cost of our meals and drinks. While the food was not the best and a potential safety hazard had my wife swallowed the pin at least they did refund me promptly.

We ate at the restaurant twice during our stay in Broome. We did find the place thanks to the coupons printed on the back of Woolies receipts though, so we decided to give the restaurant a try and use coupons to get half off the second full priced meal. Since we enjoyed our first time there, we went back for more. I can definitely recommend Chicken Rio, which probably was my favourite dish compared to the other places we tried in Broome. It is not often that Australian restaurants have seasoned chicken breast fillet in the menu. Most of the places all over Australia have Chicken parmigiana and/or chicken schnitzel and thats it, which is highly disappointing for me. As a fan of chicken dishes, I think this place deserves 5 stars. I really enjoyed the dish both times I was there, I liked the avocado as well that came with the dish. Every meal, breakfast and dinner, has been great. The food is amazing with huge servings at a good price. Recommend the fillet steak and chicken Rio as the stand outs but all was good. The staff are really friendly, especially Julia, and attentive. Even if are aren't staying at the resort make your way to the restaurant.
