**Highlander House of Buffet Steakhouse: A Mixed Bag of Experiences**

Highlander House of Buffet Steakhouse has garnered a spectrum of opinions from diners. While some praise the home-cooked flavor, quick service, and delightful desserts like cobbler, others criticize the underwhelming buffet offerings, citing dry seafood and bland vegetables reminiscent of institutional dining. The restaurant’s decor and atmosphere evoke nostalgia yet may not appeal to everyone, especially younger patrons. With a unique blend of positives and drawbacks, it remains a notable stop for families and local regulars, though expectations for the food experience may vary significantly. The venue, conveniently located next to a park, offers potential for relaxation after dining.

I was really hoping that the money they saved in coming up with a professional name for this place (who comes up with a name like Highlander House of Buffet Steakhouse, and doesn't even serve steak? was instead invested in the finest ingredients and chefs. Well, sadly, I was mistaken. This place is from another era, when food was bland and buffets were plentiful. I imagine this is what food tastes like in nursing homes, which explains the advanced ages of the patrons that were dining there. The decor of the place feels like you're dining at grandmas house, when she was senile and could no longer recall what ingredients went into the meal. If you've ever wondered what an old school TV dinner tasted like, look no further than the Highlands House of Buffett Steakhouse. Still, it's a very unique place in spite of the food, which is why I give it 2 stars and suggest you check it out before it's gone.

Food was fresh and hot, if there was a bin empty it didn't stay empty long. We were here as a family with young kids. Super friendly staff made it easy to get what we needed for the little ones first. Salad bar was simple but fresh and had enough selections to give both kids their preferences. Lunch was chicken fried steak and tacos/ fajitas. Both were good. Gravy was a little thin but still had flavor. The ice cream machine was down but the cake selection easily made up for it. This is about half way for us to Grandpa and Grandmas and we saved it as a favorite in Waze. We will be back.

Drinks were all made wrong. Crawfish not ready and running way behind. One drink had rotten leaves in it. Just not good.

I took a look at the food offered, and everything had a terrible smell. The vegetables appeared to have no seasoning whatsoever and looked like they came straight from a can. The chicken was extremely dried out, and the salad looked bare, plain, and unappetizing—basically like something you'd find in a hospital cafeteria. It's clear that this place caters to a specific demographic, likely elderly patrons, as there was a shuttle service parked out front. Everyone inside seemed to be quite old, and quite frankly, you couldn't pay me to eat here. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I can easily spot when food isn’t worth the price. The buffet cost $12, which feels like a complete waste. I can already tell I'll be having nightmares about this experience tonight. I regret ever meeting the older lady who recommended this place to us.
