We like the trails here. The terrain is exposed and decomposed granite transitions and trails. The trails are rocky, sturdy, uneven and some of a workout for most of us. We like the lake path (park near the entrance store) to the forest path, cross the paved road and walk around the mountain and under the stream lines to connect with Pecan Flats, then return over the paved road and finish the loop to the parking lot. RUGGED TERRAIN with gradual changes in height. Love this hike.

We only spent 3 nights here on the campsite 211. Great experience! We camped with 2 other families nearby and had a great time. There were 8 children among us and this park is great for children. Make sure to bring your fishing gear or rent/borrow some from the warehouse that is well stocked. We also rented kayaks and paddle around that was nice. There is plenty of shade and the lake is constant level, so you can always cool down in the water. Also visit Longhorn Cavern State Park, which is a short drive from Inks Lake and a great tour. We're coming back!
