What Jim Small doesn't like about Trattoria Burnaby:
Overpriced for mediocre food, didn’t taste like authentic italian in any way. I’ve gotten much better pasta for more than half the price. Everyone I went with was disappointed, most didn’t finish their food. Even the drinks weren’t great. The service we received was somewhat odd and uncomfortable as well. Honestly even the washrooms were bad, and the seating was uncomfortable and felt cheap. Would definitely never co... View all feedback.
Surprisingly, I haven 't reviewed this place before or yet. I 've already been here for like 2-3 times and every time it was just bad. ESPECIALLY the time I came for happy hour, don 't do it. I don 't know what happened this recent time I came, but it was actually decent. It wasn 't bad and it wasn 't THAT terrible. The service was on point, the pasta and the food we ordered was just alright. I know I could have had better else where, but I came here for a friend 's birthday party with a group of 15+ people. Even though I had a fun time here, and the vibes was right, I still think the way they designed the layout of the tables and everything was just awkward and on top of that, the sound system is just extremely loud for what it should be. Every single time I am here, it feels like I am yelling at my friend across the table. Not just that, the people who eat and drink here think they are all the shits, when really they are not because this place is just ok. I laugh at the people who do eat and drink here though. It 's just funny to see. Anyways, the server is hands down extremely attentive, nice, and I really wasn 't expecting him to take a group picture at all, when he just voluntold us to do one. AHAHA. I was like HUH? When he said that to our group. I was just blankly surprised. That is something I have never had a server do before. Not just that, but he overly nice overall. Did enjoy his service as he always kept pouring water into our cups. He really deserved and worked hard for that mandatory tip. I ordered their daily special seafood risotto, and tbh, it was decent. There was a lot of seafood in my risotto and so many different kinds, and on top of that, the risotto was cooked perfectly. Cooking rice isn 't hard, but it was flavorful, so that 's a win in my books. And on top of that, it was perfectly creamy. If I didn 't ask for the parmesan cheese, I felt it would have been missing salt on it. The pieces of halibut and the clams were cooked decently. There were pieces of squid and shrimp in the risotto, it was decent. Would I go back to Trattoria if I had a choice? No, but would I go back for a birthday party because I had to? Sure.
The service is always great and the staff is awesome. Food is delicious and love the pasta specials on Tuesdays. Would highly recommend! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: CA$20–30

Trattoria is an absolute favorite when staying in Burnaby. The food is incredible. I sit at the bar and love the pizza prepared in front of me with watchful oversight from Jane. The pastas are delicious for the main. The staff are incredibly attentive to all your needs. I am often greeted by Allan. At the bar Kyle never takes his attention off ensuring the glass of wine is filled. Carmela is watchful over all the experience to ensure that everything meets her standards. I will continue to come here and highly recommend it.
