It’s a perfect XLB soup dumpling, freshly steamed to order. They are juicy with seasoned meaty flavour, a thin skin, and bursting with soup inside. In our opinion, it’s better than the Shanghai Dimsum House nearby which is also pretty good. Their tofu soup is also light and nice with boiled dumpling water flavour in a good way. It’s not too salty and hydrating with no hint of MSG. Service: Dine in View all feedback.
What Frank Guilant doesn't like about Shanghai Fortune Cuisine:
Told me 15minute wait for food. Waited over 45min for pork buns when it wasn’t even busy. Woman at front does not communicate or apologize. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 View all feedback.
The pan-fried buns are very delicious. It’s great to take it home and reheat it if you can’t finish it all in one sitting. Fried dumplings are more delicious Service: Take out Meal type: Brunch Price per person: CA$1–10 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: 招牌生煎包

The XLBs here are the closest in terms of flavour of the broth and the skin to meat ratio compared to XLBs in Shanghai. The ones from the Shanghai Dimsum House (long line) are bigger but the soup inside is missing that hint of sweetness and there's too much skin. The sheng jian bao here is not bad but has a different style than the ones in Shanghai. It's more doughy and not as much soup. Still decent though Service: Dine in
