We have been to O Grill a few times for dinner since they opened last year, and have enjoyed the food every time. It fun to cook your dinner on a grill. You order the plates of food that you want, and cook it on the grill to your taste. Chicken soup is included, and they have a small dessert menu. Service is a bit lacking due to a shortage of staff, but the manager is very helpful and personable. View all feedback.
We ordered the $50 premium combo for 2 at family function and it came with your choice of appie, salad, several cuts of meat to grill, and 2 desserts. Free chicken soup was provided to help you warm up when you first arrive. The fried sweet potato balls were tasty and my girls loved them. I enjoyed the tangy fresh strawberry salad. As a group, we tried almost all the desserts, with green tea ice cream being the one most of the group ordered, although I thought the Mochi and the S'Mores were far more interesting. There was also a mixed veg dish with raw zucchini, cucumber and mushroom slices to grill. The meats included 2 types of boneless chicken (basil and mild spicy), unmarinated pork jowl, premium short ribs, pork slices, and beef ribs. The only two issues: (a) only one bbq sauce and one chili sauce so after awhile, all the raw meats, once grilled, began to taste the same. (b) I was still hungry after we finished everything in the premium combo because while they offer a good selection of meats & foods, the portions of the meats are not meant for hearty eaters. Yes, you get a lot of different types of foods to taste and the service was excellent, with the owner and his employees very attentive since we were by far his biggest group of customers (20 people). For $25/person, it's good value for all the unique dishes you get to try. The main suggestion is to provide more dipping sauces so there is a greater variety of flavours with the grilled meats. For the average person, there is plenty of food. For big eaters, the combos might leave them still wanting a bit more.
It's easily the best yakiniku grill experience we've ever tasted! We stumbled upon this restaurant when we walked from Metrotown. Oh boy, aren't we glad! We ordered the meat set (pork belly, pork cheek, beef kubota, veggies, and hold your breath- pork intestine!) Everything is top quality, well-marinated meat selection. The dipping sauces: spicy and sweet BBQ style are to die for! It truly completes the grill. We also tried: deep fried squid (better than the over-rated Phnom Penh restaurant or chinese style dimsum), fish cakes, chicken karage, spicy dried noodle and kimchi hot pot. All the dishes are exceptionally well cooked! My young daughter finished her third bowls easily. To complete the meal we also had slushy lemonade - very refreshing, and sweet potato balls with condensed milk and peanut. These are also scrumptious - we can't stop eating those heavenly little morsels! Prices are very reasonable considering the portion and the quality. The owner is very friendly. He greets us and other customers and introduces the menu so we know what to order. Big bonus: even though it's a BBQ, the ventilation is good, we left with no smoky odor on our clothes. This restaurant was so good we had to come back for second time during our one week visit to Vancouver. So worth the drive all the way to Burnaby! A must try restaurant!
