We were craving for Korean food so we thought we would give this place a try. We came here on a Saturday evening around 630pm and were seated right away. The restaurant got busy soon after we sat down.Food:Extensive menu with pictures and descriptions. We got the seafood pancake $(17.99), bibimbap $(12.99) and the beef bone noodle soup $(9.99) The seafood pancake was alright. Bibimbap was below average, there were barely any beef in there and the beef bone noodle soup had barely any flavours and beef. The meal comes with free side dishes (sweet potatoes, kimchi, seaweed and bean sprouts). The side dishes were good and it is free to refill. Service:Our server spoke some English, good thing we just needed to point to the pictures in the menu. The food came at a reasonable time and our tea was not refilled. Parking:There are plenty of parking in the plaza but it gets busy quickly. There are a few spots reserved for the restaurant and we were able to park at one of those spots.Overall, I was disappointed with the food. For the price I was paying, I was expecting something better.
This was our first visit to Jong Ga - we went for dinner, arriving at just after 5pm (a Tuesday). Upon entering, we found the place about half-full of customers, and it was very active throughout the course of our meal, with new people coming in, and others leaving. Our first impression - "wow, looks like this is a popular place." The service was good, and despite how busy the two servers were kept, they were always friendly, and accommodating. Even our several initial questions regarding some of the menu items, were answered without any hesitation on their part - we felt welcomed, and thought they were being very helpful. Now to the food, and wow, it was tasty! What we ordered: and it came with a great selection of banchan - kimchi (sure good, but spicy hot),! pieces of potatoes (don't know how they were prepared, but were sure yummy),! slices of marinated zucchini, and bean sprouts (both yum)! - and tea. The banchan was the best we've been served at the Korean restaurants we've tried to date-! dol sot bibimbab - hot stone bowl rice, with ground beef, an assortment of fresh vegetables, sesame oil, egg, and hot pepper sauce on the side (with some tofu, hot sauce, etc). - ox knee soup - meat
When we crave for Korean food, this restaurant is our family's go to place. I read about the reviews before coming here for the first time, and have become its fan for several years. We have also brought visitors here and we felt good that they thoroughly enjoyed the food.It is not a huge restaurant, so peak hours are pretty packed. Do make reservation if you have a party for 5 and bigger, so they can pre-arrange seating.Love their cleanness and we are not Korean, so when eating in a restaurant with lots of Korean people does tell you that you have come to a right place.Good side dishes and kim che. Normally 6 varieties and that is quite generous. Free refills. The dishes tasted very home made and authentic. Well prepared and presented. Seafood pan cake is big and loaded with seafood. All hot items come really hot. All the soups were wonderfully made. My daughter was 7 when we first started coming here and she already love many of the soups. Their menu has English translation and pictures, so very help in helping non-Korean to order.
This restaurant is a warm and welcoming Korean eatery operated by a family.
