We usually come here every couple of months for a family get together. This restaurant serves northern Chinese cuisine. It is located inside the Best Western Plus Kings Inn on Kingsway; so there is ample off-street parking. It can get very busy at lunch and dinner times, especially on the weekends; so we normally make reservations to ensure that we have a table. The service depends on who you get as a server and how... What User doesn't like about Jin Jiang Shanghai Restaurant:
There should be an option for zero stars. Absolutely terrible service. We've given it a few chances but we're never going back again. Definitely don't go there if it ever snows because the parking becomes an ice rink. (We were there back during Christmas time...More View all feedback.
The food is absolutely delicious. The staffs are attentive and friendly. The shanghai fried noodles and the chinese donut are my favourite.
As a cook at home, you can tell from the color and the texture of the ingredients, what is fresh and what isn’t. This is disgusting when we open the box we received from the restaurant. That is exactly what i get if i keep my veggies in the fridge for days and try to reheat it….
Should have looked at yelp before we went. It has been a few years since my last visit and I remembered it as an authentic place for inexpensive shanghai food. Not sure what happened, it was just awful. A lot of things we want to order is not available, with kitchen is too busy being the reason given. Those are just basic items 狮子头,酒酿汤圆 . The items they were able to make is not quality worthy of visiting Vancouver for. If you taste their 咸豆浆, I wouldn 't call it a Shanghainese restaurant. Boss lady is particularly cold, and she shouts cash only as if we are beggars from street. We are just innocent visitors who hasn 't been in town lately to know when a restaurant has gone completely downhill. What a waste of time and a meal.
This restaurant is no longer the best option for Shanghainese food. It used to be a good place to dine, but the quality has decreased since before the pandemic. The Shanghainese sticky rice was bland, and I could easily find better at T&T. The Shanghai noodles and peanut sauce noodles were just okay. I recommend exploring the Richmond area for better Shanghainese food at a similar price point.
Located within a hotel, this restaurant can be a bit tricky to access the parking lot, but once inside, there are plenty of parking spaces, including an underground area. The food was decent, with some dishes being good, while others had too much sauce. The service, seating, and cleanliness were all satisfactory. There are high chairs available for children and a designated section for families, making it kid-friendly.
