Big Smoke Burger is not your fast food sort of restaurant and I like that they do focus on making something very well...the burger. You do have a choice of beef, chicken, lamb and vegetarian. Today I tried the vegetarian and I had to check twice because it really did taste like beef.My favorite is the blue burger. View all feedback.
Great new restaurant up at the SFU campus. Went on a Sunday night and lucky we arrived at 6pm, as they close at 7pm. I recommend you check their hours of operation prior to heading up.Big Smoke has a great menu and good selection of beverages and food. They are licensed, so if you would like a drinky with the burgers, they can accommodate. FYI it's not a full service restaurant. You order at the counter, then the staff kindly deliver the meal to your table utilizing a number system. The seating is very rustic but really quaint if your into farmhouse chic! It is an open area with lots of windows so it was rather cold in temperature. But with the recent weather, everyone is freezing! We ordered the Blazing Pineapple Burger. A beef burger with grilled sweet pineapple, BBQ sauce, mayo, banana peppers, lettuce, tomato @$8.50. A Big Classics Beef burger with the fixings. We also ordered a small fry and an order of onion rings. We were lucky to have received a BOGO coupon in our mail. It was a very reasonable night out!The burgers arrived hot and fresh and made to order. The small fries were huge! and the onion rings more than plentiful. We could have managed with just one order or the half and half order split between the two of us. Highly recommend this burger joint. They even have a special called The Big Deal. It includes a little burger with your choice of toppings, a small fry and soda for $8.88 plus tax. Not bad value for the high quality of food they are serving. Please view the photos.

My husband and I went to pick up our 6 and 8 year old girls after a daycamp at SFU. We decided that we would stop at Big Smoke Burgers for our supper as the interior was beautifully done and the menu looked good. There were two fellows at the order station: one cooking and one at cash. We placed our order, which came close to $50, and sat down to wait for the food. We noticed a few things when we sat down. None of tables had been cleared so we had to wipe them down ourselves, the place is quite spacious, the music was very loud. We received our order and it was disappointing to look at. This was not a $50 order. The price of food did not match the portion size. I am not one to super size anything, but the burgers were small and the fries and onion ring portion sizes was meager. Two families came in with very young kids. They opted to sit out on the patio as the music was too loud with profanity and not nice terms for women liberally sprinkled in the lyrics. We will not be back.
This place opened recently . I wonder what took so long to get a burger spot at the edge of a university campus . Seems like a sure success to me ! Clientele all looked to be students , many madly in love :-) There is a large menu board close to where you order that explains all the options . Other than beef there is chicken , veggie and lamb . Service was very, very friendly , including the employee who brought us our meals . Decor is basic wood , quite bright , with seating outdoors as well . There are two sizes of beef patties 4 and 6 oz . The meat is char broiled and is delicious . Although many of the choices were tempting ,we both ended up getting the basic classic cheeseburger . I didn't pay attention to the drinks available . Pepsi products from the drink tower and Boylans sodas . Also they do serve milkshakes . We just stuck to the burgers and drinks , but they also have fries , onion rings and poutine . Our bill was just over $21 . Well worth it ! The property is a little hidden from the main road and bus loop . Walking down the stairs next to the Starbucks on the main road will bring you to the front door . Also there is a pay parking lot right next to the entrance . This will definitely be a regular stop for us in the future .
This restaurant is excellent! Victoria, the waitress, is fantastic - very professional and friendly. The food is delicious.
