Went in person to the store, its a little cramped, but theres outside seating too and good amount of fresh air. The staff are kind and friendly. The donair is made to perfection, and honestly quite fast. Its really juicy, you get meat and veggies and sauce with every bite, not dry, but really flavorful. I'd recommend getting something lamb flavor, it has a real punch to it ! Don't miss out on the lamb platter. The pr... View all feedback.
What Simba 呂 (nomisage) doesn't like about Abdul BBQ:
This is a review for food only. Ordered chicken shawarma plate on the phone, came in paid higher than average for the plate. When I opened my plate I saw it was a lamb plate which honestly was okay anyone could’ve made a mistake like that. Unfortunately my first bite was the first and last. The food tasted expired. The lettuce looked mouldy. I ended up getting a headache afterwards from eating it. Hope this helps any... View all feedback.
We ordered a falafel dinner, a falafel wrap, and an extra side of tabbouleh for takeout. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait, which was okay with us. It seemed like it took that long to heat up the oil in the deep fryer. We were taking the food back to our hotel room--I wouldn't recommend eating in the restaurant. It's more of a corridor with tables and a window counter. It's a bit shabby and grungy looking and could probably do with a deep cleaning. Anyway, the food was okay. Huge portions. The falafels were the best part of it. In the dinner, the rice was overcooked and the salad was wilted. The coleslaw was okay and the tabbouleh was good. The hummus was okay (could have been more flavourful.) They put spicy sauce inside the pita, so if you don't like spicy food ask them for mild or leave it out. I could only eat half of my food--2 could easily share the dinner. Overall, it made for a cheap and cheerful dinner (goes great with white wine,)! but it wouldn't be my first choice if I were back in the area.
I've been coming to this place for years, but moved out of the area a few years ago and it hasn't convenient for me to come by here for 4-5 years. My wife and a friend of ours were hanging out in the area while I was at home and offered to bring me back some food from here. I order the chicken shawarma, but unfortunately after the long trek from Burnaby to Surrey on our unreliable transit service it reached me when it was soggy. I placed the glorious wrap on a plate and unwrapped and had to it with a knife and fork. This was my own fault for not order the shawarma plate. However, I noticed one great thing the flavors, and texture and everything else (other than my soggy pita bread) were on spot with how I remember this tasting the first time I ever ordered from here. I'm glad that there are still some things being done right.
I love their Shawarma wrap using Halal meats. My favourite is the beef or lamb. Make sure you want it spicy, there's something about that spice.
Although the $15 dinner plates may seem a bit high for a counter service place, the helpings are extremely generous, the meat tender and delicious and the vegetables fresh and flavourful.
The Shwarma was decent. I get MUCH better at home in Toronto and the restaurant was REALLY sketchy. While I was waiting for my order I was thinking to myself is this going to be safe to eat. As I said the food was decent so they should really work to clean the place up.
