What User doesn't like about RJ's Rock 'n' Roll Diner:
First timers Here so - We thought we would try here for lunch on a Saturday most of the tables were full or reserved . There is a side room but that is away from the main atmosphere of the place so we decided to wait for a booth . only trouble no staff came near us to give us any direction on what to do or where to wait . So we just stood around waiting and hoping some one would leave. When we did bet a booth it took... View all feedback.

I had an appointment in Bundaberg on Monday 10th July at 11 O'Clock so Jamie my son and I decided to give this place a go after my appointment. We arrived at 11:30 am Jamie ordered Sausage and Potato Bake which was on the specials board, I ordered a Chicken Snack pack which was in the menu it stated that it was 2 pieces of chicken and chips, when I ordered the girl asked how many pieces of chicken did want, Da 2 of course, also ordered a stubby of beer and a can of coke and a mug of flat white coffee. After about 10mins the waitress came to inform us that the potato bake was not available, okay says Jamie I will have mince and tomato on toast, eventually the beer arrived, then the mince with no tomato, asked where the tomato was, oops we will bring it, about 20mins in I got my coffee, then the coke arrived, Jamie was waiting to eat until I got my order, good thing I told him don't wait because after an hour I gave up waiting, took a piece of cake and a cream doughnut for the price of my meal and had lunch when I got home at 2:45 it is a long drive to our place. The tomato must be with the chicken and chips because it never arrived either. Will I be back? I doubt it, I worked in the food service industry for years and never made anyone wait that long for a meal even pizza.
I was unsure what to expect from this visit. i'm one for the Rock 'n' Roll Diner theme, I guess it's the generational gap. Lunch time, place was empty, replay Rock and Roll DVD playing on the TV to create 'atmosphere' some generic pics of music legends through the time, including 'John Farnham'...... some Tacky full size figurines of a 'Roller Waitress' and Betty Boop cluttered the order point. The Staff were polite and helpful. I chose the Salmon Egg's Benedict, this was delightful. I enjoyed this. Coffee, I always have X-Shot Latte, this was mediocre. was drinkable, with sugar. RJ's is a place i'd return to if a friend twisted my arm. Apparently they offer Rock n Roll Dancing too.
I really like this place. They have gone to such an effort to fit it out in 50's style like you see in American movies. The thickshakes are amazing, just like they used to be in the "old days". I've been there twice, just to get a thickshake! The only thing I don't like about it is the menu. It doesn't seem particularly authentic for the era and has way too much stuff on it. I've had a hotdog here and it was ok, but the bread was too big for the frank. I think if you are going to offer American-style hotdogs in an American-style diner, you need to get the hotdog bun right. I will go back. They have dancing lessons for $5 on Wednesday nights.
Lovely big tasty fresh burgers and milkshakes. Would go there again and again and again. Staff really nice and prices to match. The diner is very clean and inviting.
