The Drift Inn bar and restaurant in Buncrana is a unique establishment with a rich historical past that sets it apart from other bars in town. Originally a functioning railway station, the bar has maintained this theme with original railway timetables on the walls and a water tower used to fill steam trains at the rear of the premises. The strong connection to the sea is reflected in the boat-shaped bar named St.Jude, which has been serving drinks for many years. The establishment offers a variety of areas for patrons to enjoy a drink or a meal, including a relaxed harness room with an open fire, a main bar with an open brick fire, and a private wee room with a piano for musical entertainment. The bar also features two TVs showing all major sporting events.

Nestled in the heart of Buncrana, the Drift Inn offers a cozy atmosphere complete with maritime décor, a roaring log fire, and delicious pints of Guinness. While the restaurant may be temporarily closed due to Covid, flavorful pizzas are available along with outdoor dining options. Live music is making a return, adding to the relaxed ambiance. Despite some mixed reviews on food availability and service, the warm and friendly staff make it a worthwhile stop for a casual drink or snack. Whether you're a local or just passing through, the Drift Inn is a charming spot not to be missed.

I stopped by a few weeks ago and the Guinness was so good that we decided to return. The menu is limited, but the pizza, wings, and other options are quite delicious. The pub has a charming old-fashioned feel with an open fire, creating a nice atmosphere. The staff is also friendly. We will definitely be back again.

I left this place crying. Actually in tears. Waited 50 minutes for food . Had ordered a plain hot dog , chef come out to double check just a hotdog and bun I confirmed yes. Hotdog was covered in mustard chilli sauce raw onions and goodness knows what else . I can’t eat spicy food at all so I ate some of the bun, got no chips like I ordered. Was offered cheesecake when I started crying. Went to pay for food card machine was down . Wasn’t told this before hand. Cash machine across the road but one of us had to stay at ransom until one of us brought back cash. Horrible experience, hate even driving passed the place .

This historic pub, formerly a railway station, exudes a cozy atmosphere with its dark interior, nooks and crannies, and open fire. The place has a lot of character and serves a delicious pint of Guinness. The music is fantastic and there is a spacious seating area in the back. The only downside are the toilets, which could use some improvement.

The Drift Inn describes itself as a restaurant and takeout establishment, but it is mostly focused on takeout. Despite having dined there before Covid, we made the mistake of booking a table for our anniversary dinner. Our meal took an hour to arrive after placing our order, during which time we observed all the takeout orders being fulfilled without any acknowledgment from the kitchen staff. The waitress who served us was apologetic, and we felt sorry for her. If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion, it's best not to bother visiting this establishment. It was a disappointing experience.
